i bought for my two son age 15 and 12. they have been asking for some time know but i never bought it as i thought it takes a lot of space, but my sons was very adamant. so i thought what the hack lets just go for it, worst case i will take it back and get a refund. i was wrong it didnt take lot of space as i first thought and for £149 very good quality. i used water first but it moved when my 15 year punched so then i changed and got sand i bought 10 bag of sand each 15kg bought it from homebase 2 for £5 but very difficult to get the sand inside as the hole on the base is quite small so i used fannel but out of 10 bags few was wet sand and belive me that was hard very hard, so remember never buy wet sand, but after all that it keeps my kids busy and by 8.00pm they are tired as anything good in a sense know they use less on computer.over all the punching bag is a fab nice and solid suitable even for an adult without any doubt, really good for someone has no time for gym and it takes minimum space which is fantastic. every thing about this product is good i have no complain i just wished i bought it long time ago, any thing for some peace

I don't believe a free-standing punch bag such as the Everlast Everflex should be marketed as the equivalent to a traditional heavy bag because the free-standing version cannot absorb as much heavy bombardment as the traditional heavy bag without it wobbling or even overturning. I think it's better to just think of it as just another punch bag, i.e. same as a lighter version of a heavy bag, and use it accordingly. In using the Everflex bag, I've been able to do just about everything I could do with a traditional punch bag as long as I don't get fixated on hitting it as hard as possible. It's certainly a good substitute if you can't set up a traditional punch bag for whatever reason.

The only difficulty I experienced in setting the bag up was when filling the base up. I decided to fill it up with sand to make it more stable and I knew that the sand would have to be dry or it wouldn't funnel into the base properly, if at all. So I bought eight, 10kg bags of PLAY SAND from Argos because surely the sand for a kiddies sand pit would be dry wouldn't it - WRONG! Every bag was wet, I tried to use the wet sand but it was useless, I tried drying some of it out using the (electric) oven but eventually realized it would have cost a fortune to do the whole lot. After using Google, I realised I should have used KILN DRIED SAND and so I excitedly bought some of this. Thankfully, after already wasting £30 I only bought 2 bags of the stuff just in case, and it was a good job because both bags were full of soaking wet sand. After looking on some building trade websites I realised that this seemed to be a common occurrence, as the sites were full of complaints about wet "kiln dried sand".

I've had mine for a couple of years now. I keep it in the garden, don't cover it up & kick it wearing trainers.. It's very durable.
Using water to fill the base it's quite easy to knock over if you want to but is also easy enough to stand up again as it's bottom heavy. I give it some ground & pound whenever it topples..It gets covered in mud when i train but the rain washes most of it off.
It is starting to look a bit withered & lil bits of foam fall out sometimes but that's mostly due to being weathered and the amount of blows its taken over the years, but still reckon it'll last another year or so.
This isn't the first one i've had, and i'll buy another when this one retires.
I previously had it in my conservatory with laminate flooring but it slid around too much & scratched the floor. I put a towel under it but it still slipped. I'd recommend a rubber mat if you're going to use it on low-friction flooring coz it's not heavy enough to stay idle with even a left jab otherwise. The base of the base should be rubber really, it is just hard plastic.

The bag itself is well made and firm. It isn't likely that the bad would get damaged if you take good care of it. Doesn't take up a lot of space and its perfect for anyone that doesn't have somewhere to support a hanging boxing bag.

i got it due to good reviews and it would suit my requirements.

it is very easy to set up. But, it is horrible filling the base??!! You only get a hole approx 2". Definitely use DRY SAND. It is time consuming - allow half hour - so it is tedious. But, when this is set up, put your gloves on and smash it.

It has got some good weight to the bag, it will take many big hits. If you a mindful about it moving - 1. you have got to be hitting it very hard, and 2. just put some rubber doorstops either side.

Overall, very pleased, excellent value for money.

I also got separately some decent heavy gloves - the ones which come with it are ok, but if you are serious, then get some a bit better.

Youtube playlist in the background, pads on and get fighting fit.

Excellent punch bag which is well worth that little bit of extra money in my opinion. Decided to fill the base with water initially, with the intention of getting some sand later on. However, with the water filled to the top of the base, there is no chance I am flooring it (I'm 5ft 10in and around 80kg). Bear in mind that I am only boxing, and if you're planning on performing kicks, it might be a different story. Yes the bag does ping about a bit, but again I think this is a good thing as it keeps you on your toes and helps to time punches. I have it in the garage, and it does shift around a little, but again, just encourages you to move around the bag which is what you should do anyway... After filling the base up the rest was pretty self-explanatory, with just a few screws to put into place. My only slight criticism is that it is tricky to adjust the height as the bag fits tightly onto the central post, and you have no way of seeing where the different height slots are. After a bit of experimenting, I've now managed to secure it at the desired height. The resistance bands are a great little addition, and I haven't got round to using the sit up strap yet. Overall, very happy with the purchase.
