One of my favourite bands and one of my favourite albums. So sadly underrated.

The music has so much warmth and character, this is pop punk at its best. Strong colourful and heavy but we'll thought out.

Lyrically so much better than most will even realise as they sit nodding their head to the catchy melodies, absolutely oblivious to the clever things they're being told.

Who would have thought a moog synth would fit so we'll into this genre. Anyone who loved 90s Green Day growing up will be happy to discover something with the same heart but with a new sound.

Finally - the perfect album from Motion City Soundtrack. Their first two records had some very strong tracks, but also some quite bad ones that cluttered the whole impression of each record. But this - oh my god. Every song is literally drowning in great hooks, infectious melodies and quirky lyrics. This is intelligent pop music that is simply as good as it gets.

Motion City Soundtrack have returned with an album noticeably more mature than there previous outings, whilst effortlessly retaining the formula that made them likable and unique in the first place.

The trademarks are still there; upbeat tempo tracks and some of the best written, relatable lyrics you're likely to hear. They have explored some new territories as well with tracks like 'Last Night' and 'The Conversation'. Overall a good mix that will please new and old fans alike.

Some may be disappointed with a slight departure from what we're used to hearing from MCS, but personally I am glad to see them not producing a "Sequel" as it were. They can reproduce more and more 3 minute guitar bursts that we've heard before or they can show what they're made of and give us something new, and I think they've made the right choice. A must buy for any MCS fan.

Maybe this is one of those albums you really have to over-listen to, however compared to the bands previous efforts, 'Even it Kills me' falls short by a long way. Lyrically, it's pretty sound touching the usual love lost, heart break themes and stick to this. However the melodies offer nothing new; infact they are in danger of each track sounding the same. Overall, it's worth a listen if you own the previous albums, but if you're a new listener, opt for 'I am the Movie'. Disappointing!
