I swear by this head on my 14 x 5 custom snare.

I used this head for 3 years on a second snare without it going through and I'm a VERY HARD hitter, it lost bait of life after a year but as it wasn't in constant use i didn't feel it was enough to warrant replacing.

On my main snare i crank this up tight and get a lot of attack and crack out of this head.

The only issue I've ever had with this is that when tightened too high the reverse dot can start to peel off under the tension. Despite this for most normal users this would not be a problem!

100% recommend this head for any snare drum user for use in any genre!

LOve this, what a wonderful sound I now get. Speedy service too, I expect from a company that pays it's UK taxes, unlike some that I won't mention........Amazon.....I lied, pay your taxes. Anyway, nice skin, I am a very happy novice drummer, and I pay my taxes too, and I am dam proud of that fact as well, it's a duty and responsibility and not at all clever to avoid, legal or not. Pay up. Well, thanks for the skin.

I got this for a 6.5"x14" steel snare drum because I wanted a brighter controlled tone. Unfortunately these new, "less expensive" EC heads have done away with the metallic material around the edges they started with. Instead they are etched with INK. Evans claims this helps to control the overtones. I've written on all my snare heads and it never affects the sound. Granted it is a thicker type of ink but upon tuning it to my various snare drums it doesn't measure up. Trust me, I've used the EC2's and 1's since they came out and can honestly say they are not as good as they once were. The center dot is still the same material however which is the only plus about this head. Don't be fooled by stenciled rings! Get the Power Center head with a muffling ring and it will serve you much better.

This drum head is great, even on my Tama Imperialstar. This makes my drum set much more enjoyable to play after using an Evans Onyx, which apparently wasn't the right one for me due to it's "dead" low sound with no sustain. This head however has the right amount of sustain, and is perfect for many genres of drumming. Although it doesn't have a white coating for jazz brushes, it is still a great head that I recommend for anyone.

Very food sounding head. I cant really tell you how easy it was to tune because my snare has wood damage. But after about 5-13mins of tuning and letting it just sit for a few days, it sounds reall good.

Works well with any style of playing, sounds cool and crisp, grab an Evans 300 snare side head while you are on amazon for a perfect match... you won't be disappointed.
