Quite good contest, quite good DVD

The 2005 contest is a good contest, and the first to be released on DVD in anamorphic wide-screen. The opening and interval acts are better than others (like the 2008 one).

Picture Quality: Although in anamorphic wide-screen for the first time, the picture looks less sharp than later contest DVDs (especially the 2008 one). If you on a TV using the 'no-overscan' feature (eg. a HDTV with this feature), a black bar keeps appearing/moving from shot to shot (though it disappears if you view with overscan).

Audio: There is no option to hear the commentary that was in the broadcasts.

Overall: Quite good contest but without the picture quality of the later ones. It's a shame they don't release a Blu-ray set with all recent contests on, even the ones not recorded in high def, like this one.

This turned into a bit of an epic struggle. I placed the order and very quickly received the order. The only problem was despite the description and despite putting in the correct order number, I was sent the music c.d. . This was returned and I tried again only for the same thing to happen again. After several attempts I gave up and my daughter managed to obtain the product elsewhere.

Overall the Eurovision DVD's are good, but they could be so much better. The package feels too rushed. The omission of a booklet with chapter breaks detailed is criminal on a 3 hour 20 minute production. Also please please can we remember that we are using DVD's now, so can we have surround sound included on the disc. It's worth buying at Amazon prices, just dont expect to be wowed by it.
