3.0 out of 5 stars Good As far as it goes 17 Dec. 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I was looking for a comprehensive train guide to the whole European system. What I got was a guide for the person who wants to know how to see what the authors consider worthy of visiting. I was mistaken thinking this was a guide to the entire system with schedules and some advice like that. However, that aside if you are looking for some ideas, a lot of good information on the rail system, this is a worthwhile purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars Helpful but not worth the price 25 Mar. 2014
By J. Barrett - Published on Amazon.com

This would be a fantastic book if nearly 95% of the info it contains was not available for free on the internet (and I'm not implying illegally obtaining the info). That said, some people may want the information in printed form that they can carry with them while they travel. If so, then it may be worth the purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT SOURCE OF INFORMATION 24 Mar. 2014
By Patrisia Rawlins - Published on Amazon.com

Bought this book when I was still planning to add Germany and Belgium to my trip to the UK. It's full of information, hints, things to avoid, how to read trail schedules in different countries, etc. Now I know the UK doesn't participate in Eurail passes, etc., so I'll tuck this book away for my next trip, when I'll devote more time to central Europe.

I found this online and wondered how up-to-date and useful it would be. I was surprised and very pleased to discover that this book is thorough and very helpful. Wonderful information that will prove essential in getting around Europe by rail. Thank you for such a complete, well-written reference.

1.0 out of 5 stars a complete waste of money 7 Sept. 2014
By bostonmarc - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
An infuriatingly book that's difficult to use, has maps that make no sense and really doesn't give the reader the sort of information a person needs.
How to get from one major city such as Paris to Berlin? Not found here.
The authors seem to think that the way for Americans to experience Europe is to "base' oneself in a city, say Paris, then spend every day heading out to other places on day trips.
I am a fairly experience traveler and I found this book to be a waste of my time and money.
