The descriptions on the back were also lacking in detail, with just a few lines of text for each country passed through, mostly referencing the major towns passed through. The map was not expensive, but I did not feel that it was value for money.
On the positive side, where the Eurovelo routes used existing national cycle routes these were marked on the map, and there was a list of websites for the national routes on the back of the map.
I guess that I would have liked detailed maps for each route showing extra detail where you need to join or leave routes on the edges of towns. Or even better a guide book for each individual route with maps and descriptions of each days cycling.
The first problem is the routes are all marked as either green or blue, so you couldn't follow a route right across Europe because as soon as a route crosses over another route its not immediately obvious which green/blue line you should be following.
The second problem is the top of Scandanavia does not fold out on one large sheet. Instead Scandanavia is cut off at the top and them a small box image of Scandanavia appears in the Atlantic Ocean. This makes the map disjointed.
In all the map was very disappointing and its not something I would recommend to others.
However, as previous reviewers have noted, this is just a big map of Europe with largeish lines showing where cycling routes exist. It doesn't actually give you enough detail to even know what the major roads or waypoints are -- just big lines showing you where there might be a route you could use.
It's about as useful as if you took a paint brush and painted broad, thick lines on a map and said, "I'd like to go from here to there." It makes no sense to me why anyone would ever even publish this.
It is basically a big map that has very little detail. The lines showing the routes are largish too and there isn't enough detail or information to be able to even identify the nearby roads etc.
I wasn't expecting a miracle when I bought this map but I was hoping it would at a minimum give a rough idea. Sadly it doesn't even do this.
Great reference for general travel dreaming and big picture planning, though!
