HASH(0x94dad630) out of 5 stars Great security primer for non-tech Windows users 7 Sept. 2012
By Wishbone Fan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This book is a quick read and to the point. Nickle focuses on exactly what the title says, the essentials. The book begins with an overview of security topics that walks non-technical readers through clear explanations of topics like spyware, phishing, and home & public wi-fi. Once the reader has a good base-line understanding of security topics, the author spends the second part of the book on step-by-step tasks for securing Windows 7 and XP. If you have a relative or friend that is unsure about how to secure their system, this book is an excellent resource!

HASH(0x94dade10) out of 5 stars What a great guide 7 Sept. 2012
By J. Boxer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This guide is perfect for anybody concerned about the safety of their computer. It goes through all the ways an attacker can gain access to your computer and its files in great detail. Then it tells you really simple ways of preventing anybody from being able to do those things. All of the solutions it gives are easy enough to follow that anyone, regardless of computer experience, will be able to follow them easily. That was nice for me, because I am one of those people who cannot use a computer well at all.

I would recommend this to anyone looking to secure their computer.

HASH(0x94db1318) out of 5 stars Excellent Guide For The Non-Professional 8 Sept. 2012
By BobH - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Just the book for those of us not formally trained in this area. Written with the lay user in mind while also being very comprehensive. Starts with the fundamentals and builds on basic concepts. I now have a much better understanding of the software protecting my machines and the security that these programs provide.
