Hey man, what it is... Here are 3CDs of the coolest, grooviest, soul and funk anthems from the 1970s. When the collars were long and the flares were wide, these smokin' tunes were all over the airwaves. 60 bad, bad tunes from Curtis Mayfield, Bobby Womack, Aaron Neville, Gil Scott-Heron, The Meters and many, many more... Comes in a special edition collectors' tin box.

CD1 Track 10 - Cholly (Funk Getting Ready To Roll) by Funkadelic (1978)
CD2 Track 03 - One Nation Under A Groove by Funkadelic (1978)
CD3 Track 16 - Oh, I by Funkadelic (1981)
Strange they should all be Funkadelic tracks? Maybe they were waiting for the copyright and forgot to update the tin and sleeves.
Anyway, this should stop you spending hours trying to work out what these extra tracks are and which track on each disc is the one missing in the liner notes and track listings.
In case you missed Superfly Soul - or even if you have it - this tin box duplicates some and adds some new tracks. The sound quality is great. Often CDs in tins are lousy, often remakes of hits, but this is the real deal. It looks cheesy, but you get great music, great sound quality, cardboard jackets - on black velvet, I swear to god...
Now the bad news: this label has now stooped to putting out the Simply Funk, Simply Blaxploitation , Simply Disco, which uses awful noise reduction....it is a shame to see such a promising label be reduced to that. Get the Metro Tins: Essential Blaxploitation, Essential Funk, Birth of Soul, Soul Legends, etc and avoid their Simply series.

This looks like a great set of dirty funk tunes but I can't believe there is no tracks from the brilliant Black Caesar soundtrack, one of James Brown's best in my opinion.Published 13 months ago by man
Even more tracks than the box suggests! Excellent hours of listening.Published on 2 Aug. 2014 by Nick Prince
