Following a devastating accident, the lives of next door neighbours and best friends, Josh and Riley will never be the same again. Whilst they each try and battle their demons and come to terms with their losses their usually close bond is put to the test. Will they find their way back to each other? Can Riley Escape the doubt and tell Josh how she feels?
This was a heartwarming story of love and friendship.
Andrea has done an amazing job for a debut novel and I cannot wait to continue Josh and Riley's story in book 2.
Riley has been best friends with Joshua, her next door neighbour forever and for a long time has felt something more for him but has never acted on it. Fear and doubt got in the way, as well as a tragic accident that brought feelings of guilt. Riley was always going to a need a gentle push along.
Joshua has been in love with Riley for years, with no one able to match her in his eyes. She is all he thinks about. When she breaks up with Dean, he finally sees an opportunity to be with her. But with teenage issues, jealousies and hormones and with everything amplified because they're teenagers, the fear and the doubt could win out.
This was at times a frustrating read as Riley time and time again pushes Joshua away and lets the doubt win. It is, though, equally beautiful as Joshua shows remarkable patience and lots of romance to win her over. He is the one character with a completely level head. Riley, because of how she feels, over reacts and pushes away when the doubt and fear creep in. Together you can see they are meant to be; they make sense. This is even more obvious when they are apart.
A beautiful read with jump off the page characters that draw you into their story. I enjoyed the style of writing and the dual POVs that added a better understanding of the characters.
I thoroughly loved this book, I loved the story, I loved the characters and cant wait to see what the other books in the series hold for Riley and Josh.
For Riley this story is a coming of age story as well as a love story. She and Josh grew up together living next door to each other, and from the moment Josh met her she captured his heart. The same went for Riley.
After a tragedy involving her dad and Josh's mother Riley decided that she couldn't have him. Both of them were as bad as each other and yes there were cries of frustration on my part quite a lot of time - she loved him but wouldn't tell him, and he loved her but wouldn't tell her! If only they communicated it would have saved a lot of misunderstandings :)
This story transports you back to teenage love, friendship and high school drama. The characters are well written, developed and you will love and hate some - Preslee for one, oh my god that girl did my head in causing trouble.
A brilliant read for the start of a series, can't wait to read book 2!
A Huge 5***** Stars from me.... :)
Enjoy :) x
You'll have to read the series to find out what happens the love struck couple.
Enjoy :) x
