It's not an architectural textbook, although it discusses Lyons' inspirations and the development of SPAN over the years. Rather, it's a gloriously positive journey through this example of modern architecture, with the authors' words (there are many, each chapter an extended essay on a facet of SPAN) packed with carefully-researched facts and figures, together with the background and reasoning behind the decisions that formed Lyons' body of work.
It's a great read even if you're not a SPAN geek: by reading this focussed work on a single architect, you learn a great deal about the profession in general and what motivates them. If there's an architect in your life, this will help you understand them better - in addition to giving you an in-depth discussion topic.
