Product Description

Babywearing has traditionally been a 'Mum thing' but with the ERGObaby Carrier Sport carrying your child can be stylish for Dad too. It is the most masculine baby carrier on the market, especially designed for men with longer shoulder straps, a wider padded waist belt and overall easier usage.

Made from an incredibly soft combination of cotton and polyester this carrier is comfortable, lightweight, breathable and sporty.
The Sport shares the same unique features as the original ERGObaby Carrier range- the ergonomic design, 3 different carrying positions and the smart padded waist belt. And yes, it can and should be worn by women too.

The ERGObaby carrier's ergonomic design supports a correct sitting position for the baby's hip, pelvis and spine growth. It disperses most of the baby's weight between the hips and thighs, which helps to eliminate compression of the spine when hanging by the crotch which most other designs require. The ERGO also balances the baby's weight to parents' hips and shoulders, and alleviates physical stress for the parent. Thus it provides a comfortable fit for hours without any back pain afterwards.

The ERGObaby carrier allows to carry your child from the age of 4 months (7 kg) to 4 years (18 kg). It can also be used for newborns and infants younger than 4 months. Especially for them the ERGObaby Infant Insert was developed. It enables to carry the baby in the natural sitting position from its birth on. Therefore, the ERGObaby carrier is recommended worldwide by paediatricians and midwives.

Like most parents, I have gone through my share of baby carriers always in search of the perfect one. Well, I have finally found it in the Ergo. I was hesitant to buy it because my 6 mth old daughter hates facing inward and loves facing outward in the Baby Bjorn so I thought she would dislike the inward facing of the Ergo but she loves it and never complains. I tried her on my back once so far around the house while I did some housework and she was so content. I have not yet tried it on the hip. The Ergo Sport is very light weight and surprisingly strong. I even put my 23 kilo 5 year od daughter on my back to try it out and she was so comfortable, so was I! It reminds me of my backpacking days years ago when I travelled with a rucksack on my back, all the weight is on your hips which makes such a huge difference to carriers like the Baby Bjorn. I bought the Sport one because I am a large frame so thought the extra inches on the waist would be better rather than buying an extension. Also, my husband is tall (6ft 2in) so I thought it would fit him better. My only possible complaint is the color. I know they made it black to look more masculine but I am wondering if it will get very hot or attract the heat more in the summer. But since the material is so light I am thinking this may not be a problem. I will have to see this summer. It does lack a snap or zip pocket like the other Ergos have (which I read), which is a shame but since I have never used one with a pocket, I am not desperately missing it. Overall, after spending lots of money on the Maya Wrap, Baby Bjorn and a sling, I am so happy I finally took a chance on the Ergo. It is well worth it and the best baby carrier I have ever used!

We bought this to take on holiday with our 17 month old and it was definitely worth it. She is now too big for the babybjorn we previously had and both my husband and i found the backpacks (e.g. littlelife) that you put a baby in very uncomfortable. The ergo baby carrier is different as it places all the weight on your hips so we found we could walk around for a few hours without getting too tired. Our little girl was always very comfortable in this and when she fell asleep we could use the head support to stop her head lolling about. I did wonder how you would cope on your own if your baby fell asleep as it would difficult to attach this yourself but as there was always two of us this wasn't an issue for us. Another slight problem we had with this was figuring out how to put your baby on your back safely if you were on your own. The instructions aren't entirely clear and I actually found them impossible to follow. Eventually i figured out a safe method using a sofa but i am reluctant to use this carrier if i am out on my own without someone to help me take it on and off. It was great for holiday though and easily packed into our suitcase. I don't think i would bother with a babybjorn in the future and just use this from birth as there are no issues with putting your baby on your front (this is actually much easier than with a babybjorn).

Not the best buy. We never really use it. It is too expensive and it does not work. The baby was too hot. The legs were in a very uncomfortable position. We use it twice. And daddy and baby were sweating like a roast.

I was disappointed with this item and expected a lot more for the price. Having used the Baby Bjorn for baby's first 7 months, I was expecting something that fit just as snuggly and securely, but that could be used to carry baby on my back instead. I found this product fiddly to get baby into and my 9 month old never looked entirely comfortable in it. If you're not a tall person (around 5ft 3in) it is difficult to get the carrier adjusted properly as the straps are extremely long - the result is that no matter how much you tighten it, it still feels like your baby is lolling about a bit behind your back, rather than being snug and secure. I also found that it doesn't distribute the weight of the baby very well as I couldn't manage to get my baby higher up on my back. Instead baby's weight is lower down around the hip area, which puts strain on lower back muscles. All in all I think this may suit taller people, and people who's baby doesn't wriggle much when trying to set them up in the carrier! But for shorter people or those who want something really snug, I do not recommend it.

This baby carrier is marvellous - I carried my 23lb daughter around in it for an hour and a half and it didn't hurt my back or shoulders at all. She is very comfortable in it too.

We used to carry our daughter as a new born in a sling, which she outgrew (she is now 14 months) and really missed the convenience.

After reading lots of reviews on various types of slings for toddlers, I finally decided to go with the ergo. The Product arrived really quickly; On first impressions I couldnt believe how light the sling was. Got the instruction book out and read that there are lots of differrent positions you can carry the baby in (eg hip, on the back) which with some slings you cant do. There is a sleeping hood that extends over the childs head (can also be used as a sun shield).
Instruction manual is easy to follow (if i can follow it anyone can). The design of this sling is so simple but it works so well.

Just waiting for my little one to wake up so we can start using it! wish I had bought this sling along time ago.
