I am so angry with this piece of crap! It constantly jams, drinks ink like a pig and makes the most annoying mechanical noises! I fell foul to Epson a few years ago when I bought a printer because of it's CD printing feature..it was the slowest thing in the world but I managed with it for a year or so. When I had the funds to buy an all in one, I went for this model...do not ask me why, I really do not know, possibly because it was half price at the time! Well a year on, I have become unemployed and wanted to save money, so, I buy non branded ink. Big mistake! They will work for a hour or so then bang!! the printer no longer recognises the cartridges! So I pay £50 for a genuine set and all is fine that is until I need to buy paper. Again I try to save a few quid and purchase non Epson glossy photo paper, the printer of course will not accept it, it jams, it screws it up or it just whines and bleeps! AND you cannot continue to print in black and white when any colour runs out...which is alarmingly fast as finds the thing needs to clean it's heads every time you use it! Also when an ink cartridge runs out try scanning! You got it, you cannot use the scanner and save to file unless there is ink in the machine. I am not going to go on, but I will mention this...when I emailed Epson about all this they responded by offering me an extended warranty for £29! Err no thank you, I will put that £29 towards another make and I will never buy Epson products again....and neither should you!

I was so amazed with is printer, it does everything it claims and with ease.
I admit I did have a small problem with loading the paper, but that's because I never read the instructions and settings properly. Once I realised what I did, I decided to print a photo. I wanted a borderless picture, so chose it in the settings and it printed it out in a few seconds. The quality was more than I hoped for, my previous epson R220 printed a border either side of the picture, this one didn't it printed on the whole sheet, and the colours are fantastic. I then tried the disc printer part, was shocked when the whole lot never came out, just a little bit to put the disc on. I thought it was going to be a major flop, seeings how I couldn't sit into the tray like I did on my old printer. Anyway, I placed it in there worried in case I damaged the printer, and to my surprise it seated it automatically and printed a perfect disc within 8 seconds. My old printer wanted longer than that just to set up the sensors. I am so impressed with this printer, I just had to write a review, after reading some of the other reviews. My advice to these people is, read the instruction manual first, I know it takes a while, but believe me it's worth it. Now for the down side, yes it's a great printer, but it takes nearly half an hour to install all the software and drivers, a long time if you're in a bit of a rush (best allow yourself a good hour to install and configure). It's a little noisy, but then so was my other printer. I have to admit though, I am bias a little, because i've only ever used epson printers in the past, starting with the 'epson660' back in the mid-nineties.

All-in-all, if you're looking for a great printer, whether it be to print double-sided paper, cd/dvd disc, photos or whatever, you can do a lot worse than this one, it takes time and a little patiences, but the rewards are well worth the wait. Also, don't forget that around mid November prices start going up for xmas so if it's more that £74.99 wait until new year when it comes back down again.

after 18 months of regular light use it has packed up

This is my 3rd Epson printer, the first 2 were really reliable.

I've had this one just over 18 months of regular, but very light use. regular head cleaning was needed and now it will just not clean well enough to print anything decent. no error or fault messages, it just wont print properly.

It's a nightmare for pictures, it grabs a second piece of photo paper half way through so you end up with 2 pieces each with half of the picture. I resorted to doing one picture at a time with just one piece of paper in the tray, then it regularly will not pick up the single sheet. followed all the instructions for roller and head cleaning. Expensive epson paper made no difference.

reading comments on the internet it appears these are common faults of this range and Epson know about it. It looks like they have taken no action to resolve them.

It looks to me like they are trading on a brand reputation that is no longer justified and for me has diminished significantly.

I expect better for the price and there is a lot better out there.

I am done with Epson.
