I replaced my Epson SX215 printer with the BX305FW as I needed the added fax facility. I decided to stay with Epson as I've always found them to be reliable and reasonably cost effective to run (compatible cartridges etc). I was not disappointed. I actually found it to be faster and quieter than my previous printer. It has easy to understand setting up instructions etc. and is simple to use. Would definitely recommend this printer if you're like me, working from home, you have everything in one machine on your desk. Brilliant.

As the title of the review says, it is a great printer - most of the time!
I bought mine in September 2011, and whizzed through the setup on it. Not perfect, however another reviewer on here has posted a good guide as to how to set it up on your WiFi network, which I followed, and had no problems.

I first started having concerns when I looked at inks... the original Epson ones do cost a fortune, even for the lesser-filled cartridges. So I shopped about, and found some cheaper, 'compatible' ones. I thought it best to just replace the individual ones as they went, rather thant the whole set - mistake! As I changed the black cartridge, an error message flashed up saying the cyan was unrecognised... which was an original cartridge. So I changed the cyan, which then told me the yellow was bad. After changing all 4 cartridges, it still failed to print, as it didnt like the magenta one!

In the end, I gave up, and replaced all 4 - again, without getting any printing from the cheaper cartridges - with an original set of Epsons. Then, halfway through the 3rd page of a 5 page document, it again said the magenta was unrecognised. Around this point, I was really starting to regret it!

Finally, last week, the paper feed refused to pick up paper. I had to stand over it while it was printing to help feed the paper in, and 4 times out of 5 it took the paper at an angle and jammed. This was the last straw, so I have returned it to Amazon, and am currently awaiting the refund. I'll be going back to HP, I think!

I purchased this to replace an Epson SX400 which had served me well but was beyond economical repair. The first thing to be noted is that it not supplied with either a usb cable or a phone cable. Using a usb cable will make initial set up a breeze meaning that you should not get wireless connection failures. Unpacking, installing and setup took me about 15 minutes. Print quality on text document and photo is very good. Be aware that the supplied ink cartridges do not contain much ink. The scan, copy and fax facilities all work well. My only gripe is that the lcd display is not backlit as the SX400 is, which is why I did not score it 5 stars.

I was excited to use this all-in-one machine, but I have been left disapointed. ADF jams more often than not; after a paper jam the (USB in my case) connection is lost - the only solution to which I can find is a PC reboot!!!! As another reviewer reports - it shows cartridges empty very soon after changing them. I find the menu options annoying - for reasons I do not understand I have to "press 1 to save" to shut it down from hardware - what it is saving I have no idea! I cannot print multiple page pdf's - it typically only prints one and a half pages the remainder is blank. I normally use it with Vista - which may be the problem - but I have installed latest firmware and it hasnt solved these problems. So after about a year I'm chucking it out.

This is an awesome piece of kit. Now I know NOTHING about computer stuff but having recently purchased a fully wireless, touch screen, all singing and all dancing computer I just had to get rid of those last few wires. Having browsed various companies and what they had to offer, I read the reviews of this little beauty. It does everything, print, copy, scan, fax and answer the phone!! It is a PIECE OF CAKE to install (and I remind you I am USELESS at this nerdy stuff) but following the on screen steps and a one page pictoral guide - it was easier that making jelly! Honestly!! Its reviewed as being a bit noisy, but mine is in the waldrobe out of sight and I don't hear it at all. Its quick enough and just does the job really really easily. I would defo recommend this. I bought the inks here too, 4 colour and 2 B+W for less than a tenner (inc postage).

My old Canon pixma gave up the ghost after 5 yrs so I decided to get an all in one printer and get rid of the very old scanner to make more space. That makes sense and these printers are very cheap and Epson seems cheap to run re the ink.
On the face of it this printer looks great, all singing and dancing and will be just fine for most people however....if you have an iPhone or an iPad this printer is one of just 3 or 4 Epson printers that does NOT support AirPrint so you cannot print direct from iPad etc using AirPrint.
Also ask yourself.... when did I last sent a fax. Most of us will realise this is a waste of space, I last sent a fax 5 years ago.
It was fairly easy to set up but you do need to connect it via USB to your pc while setting up the wireless, then disconect. I did get stuck during the set up as it was asking me to connect the phone line... only a power lead is in the box! Quick thinking (for me) was taking the phone line out of the back of my phone and plug it into the printer. Once set up I removed the phone line as I didn't have another lead. It works just fine without a phoneline but of course you cant fax.
When I did my first print it scared the pants off me... what a noise. I really thought I had not taken some packing out. But thats the way it is.... noisey and at least 2 or 3 times noisier than my old Canon when feeding the paper in.
Print quality is just fine, I never got around to scanning, copying or faxing... I returned it and went for an Epson AirPrint friendly model.
