Epson Perfection V750 Scanner
Discover Film and Photo Scanning Perfection
The Epson Perfection V750 Pro is the ideal scanner for photo enthusiasts and advanced amateur photographers. Featuring Epson’s Dual Lens System combined with DIGITAL ICE Technologies it delivers exceptional quality film and photo scanning.
Epson scanners produce fast, high resolution results time after time. Whether you're scanning everyday documents, archiving analogue photos, or working with a range of formats -- such as small or multiple production scanning of 35mm filmstrips, medium or 8" x 10" format film -- or transparencies that need a fast turnaround.
Epson MatrixCCD Scanning
CCD chips catch and convert the information contained in light into a digital file. Epson MatrixCCD technology uses multiple rows of light-sensitive elements to give your scans higher quality, reduced image noise and better dynamic range. This means you can scan faster and at higher resolutions up to 6,400dpi while maintaining a small product size.
High Pass Optics
The enhanced High Pass Optics system found in the Epson Perfection V750 Pro uses an anti-reflective lens coating to reduce ghosting and High Reflection Mirror coatings to direct the light beam more efficiently while scanning. These features help deliver improved edge sharpness and fast scanning speeds.
Epson Dual Lens System
The Dual Lens System optimises scanning performance depending on the type of original you choose. The 4,800dpi High Resolution Lens is used for reflective documents and some film, while the 6,400dpi Super Resolution Lens gives you maximum quality when you scan film using the supplied film holders.
Epson Dual Lens System gives the ideal combination of speed, quality, size and value.
Digital ICE Technologies
Digital ICE Technologies are combined hardware and software solutions that can repair old film, slides and photos as you scan, so your dusty or scratched images will look as good as new after scanning. The system can tell the difference between the original image and unwanted dust, hairs, fingerprints or scratches, so it captures the details you want and automatically removes the rest.
Making Great Scanning Simple
Scanning is easy with Epson Perfection V750 Pro, which offers high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity. You can also discover no-compromise film and photo scanning. The large 8" x 10" transparency unit makes easy work of multi-format production scanning, and 6,400dpi optical resolution means superb quality every time. The moving blue LED also helps you to keep track of progress.
Achieve exceptional scanning at 6,400dpi (film) /4,800dpi (reflective) optical resolution. Excellent tone reproduction with 4.0 DMax optical density. 10" x 8" built-in film adapter with film holders for all common formats.

For film sizes above 35mm the film holders are not great and it would probably be worth buying a carrier from betterscanning.com. It takes roughly 20 mins to scan 24 35mm negs. Overall far exceeded my expectation.
Having now scanned a few thousand negatives I am still very happy with this scanner.
Thankfully the Epson software works very well which is a relief for anybody attempting to use the Silverfast Software, which in my view, is a clumsy program and feels as though it was written about 20 years ago.
Silverfast may be OK for those who have grown up with it but for a new user it is completely unintuitive and baffling in the way it spreads itself over a number of separate but linked windows.
The only real problem I have identified is that it crops negatives too much if you let it find the frames automatically, for critical scanning it is better to select the scan area manually.
If you have analogue negatives & colour slides that you want to convert to the digital format, then purchase the V750 before they become obsolete - the forever changing IT world moves on so fast that you will get left behind if you do not act now!
The mat is oversized for the bed so it will not lay flat to the glass meaning anything to be scanned on the glass bed with mat in place has a tendency to lift in places with loss of focus/quality.
I purchased a new mat but this was also oversized so must be a production fault.
Even though the mat was returned with the scanner the second time they overlooked it even though they admit the mat is too large. Very strange I guess they do not want to admit all these machines could be faulty. (I also supplied photographic proof).
Appalling for a top of the range and expensive item.
Epson customer service is horrendous I would never ever deal with Epson again.
Amateur photographers might find they can do just as well with a smaller model like the v600 or similar but for top quality scans of transparencies and negs this scanner has to be first choice if you plan to print and exhibit.
Also tested it on a magazine cover and the scan was perfect. The software has a huge range of settings should you desire to do some prescan tweeking.
Once scans are imported to photoshop they are of such quality that any post scan work is made a lot easier.
P S. Medium Format film users, you can pull even better scans if you find Anti Newton Ring glass, just do a Google Search of anti newton ring glass on scanning with v750 pro.
