Does what it says on the tin.
No problems setting up wireless wifi printing - worked first time.
No problem doing a firmware update - easy, automatic.
Scanning at 600DPI gives faultless quality - the resolution is too high if anything!
Print quality of small text could be better on normal paper - but that is expected - get some printer paper!
Built in colour screen at this price is a feature most people would have only dreamed about 10 years ago.
Printing and scanning direct from/to SD card with no PC required - very useful.
The instruction manual could have been clearer just with respect of how to load paper - it took me about 40mins to figure out there is a slider you need to move before A4 paper sits nicely in the back - doh!
Amazed that Amazon (and other retailers) don't simply tell you "Whats In The Box?" - it was a mystery as to whether this printer would come with or without ink, and if so, how much ink. To my surprise this printer comes with all 4 cartridges (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, Black), and they appear to be "XL" volume cartridges!
Photo printing does not interest me.. look at other reviews if that interests you.

I've been using Epson Printer since 2002 (had 3 printers and all were one in all thing, like copier, scanner).
So I love the simplicity of using Epson, like the software that comes with, etc.
There are so many positive (like quality of the scanning, printing quality, touch screen), so I would like to point out some negatives (as everyone so far gave 5stars for this model).

- Black ink goes out fast (I only printed around 30 pages, and it says I need to change the cartridge...). This machine also has automatic "Power Off" system (which can be configured in setting), and it was switching off every 30mins or so in the beginning. Every time it switches off, the head was cleaning itself and consuming a lot of ink...

- No unofficial cartridges available at the moment (Oct 2012). It will be expensive to run.

- Wifi connection doesn't pick up signals as smooth as it should. This is a bit of disappointment for me personally. It was quite easy to set up the wifi (laptop, two iphones, and ipad). I would say it works most of the times (when I really need that work, it doesn't!), but sometimes 3 or 4 out of 10, haven't worked (no matter how close you get to the printer). I just tried now as I type this and it worked.

I would probably put 3.5 stars for this model, but certainly not 4star.

Purchased this and so far so good.

It says its a small printer, well not that small really. About as wide as your laptop computer but quite big and bulky like almost all other printers. Still, could fit under a desk easy or in a cupboard so I suppose I will give them that one.

Easy to set up. Yes, no problems there. Put the disk into the computer to set it up (Takes about 5 minutes) And you are good to go. This is supposed to be wireless wi fi and so on. Really didn't bother with that it just struck me as a completely unnecessary gimmick so I just used the USB cord from my old printer (Good thing is, this will take your old USB so you don't have to go out and buy some specific one. My old printer was a HP) Cant comment on the wi fi perhaps that would work with a tablet but personally I use my laptop for general stuff like that and my tablet for other things.

Printer ink. There is no mention (None I could find anyway) Of this being supplied with printer ink but it is. I was a bit worried about that as I thought I would end up having to go to the local printer shop and paying out some daft price just to get the printer running rather than wait several days to get one from amazon but there is ink supplied (Bit strange as you get 4 colours)

Set up of ink. Very easy and straightforward. Nothing more to add there.

Use of ink. This is the big one as lots of people are saying the black ink runs out quick. Well yes and no! I have just printed probably around 50 - 60 sheets of A4 that I needed and yes, the ink is pretty much gone. Interesting thing is when its about to go it asks you if you want to combine the ink with another colour to save on the black ink. Why on earth didn't it just do that from the start or give you a default option? Just a tip for anyone as that way you can really save on black ink as I can see that as a potential problem forever running out getting black ink (Cant see myself using yellow or pink ink all that often)

Speed. Prints pretty fast but don't expect lightening speed.

Quality. Pretty good for documents, not tried with photos yet so I will have to see on that one but documents are crisp and clean and as they should be. I should also point out that's with using cheap Asda paper so its not like HP where they "Recommend" You use their "Best" Paper and if you don't half of it ends up chewed up in the printer.

All in all so far so good. Given 4 stars because I will wait and see about the other points I raised.

Well I agree that some of the parts appear a little flimsy / breakable and I CERTAINLY agree that the start-up instructions and diagrams are pretty basic, so I nearly gave it only 4*. But it is dead easy to set up, from start to test-printing an email in my inbox. If a techno-numpty like me can do that in onew hour, then... :-). Quality appears excellent and speed is perfectly acceptable. This is only on one evening's use!

Pros

- cheap as chips
- very compact, not too heavy: would go on most desktops
- quality appears excellent
- colour reproduction ditto
- reasonable speed
- wifi set up is dead easy: and it works!
- excellent for the home / student user, I'd've thought

Cons

- some parts appear a bit flimsy
- instructions pretty basic

Jury out

- ink consumption
- reliability
- troubleshooting / jams etc

I'll update this review if there are any problems, but so far - excellent!
