I bought this almost 4 years ago and for some reason I'm only getting round to reading it now. To be honest I feel as though this book wasn't really needed. I should have left the story after the first two books. I don't feel as though this added much to the story.

What a fantastic ending. Both Livvie and Caleb moving forward with their lives together. Caleb changed his life around so much, gave his past up and began again as James. Livvie found herself, she didn't need the negative effect of her mum in her life. Five massive stars go to CJ Roberts xx

Epilogue - CJ Roberts

5 stars!!!

OMG, I am lost for words...as soon as CJ said that this book would be written I was beyond excited, although you knew that this situation was totally all kinds of wrong, because of the emotional journey we had been on with Caleb and Livvie you could not help but root for them and you wanted them to get their HEA.

Caleb had been living/existing on the dark side for so long it was really difficult for him to live as a normal human being. He tracked Livvie down and made it his mission to adjust for her, he wanted to give her the life she deserved but with him in it, she wanted that too but it was harder for him. He had used fighting and killing as a coping mechanism and without that in his life he struggled. I think that we forget just how he had been abused in the first place, he too had suffered the fate that was bestowed on Livvie before he came to her rescue, so he was also a Captive In The Dark but at a much earlier age.

You could not help but feel for Caleb in this book, it was a hard adjustment for him and you could see that he was trying, Livvie had made a life for herself and had friends and school and things to do, he had nothing. He was not used to socialising and the way that his friendship with Livvie's friends developed was heart warming, you see the thaw in Caleb and it was emotional to read.

You really developed a sense of protection for Caleb during this book, we get to see his vulnerable side rather than the strong killer that he has been portrayed before. You see him as a victim, a lover, a fighter and a friend but also we get to see not "Caleb" but "James Cole"

"I've learned to breathe without you. I've learned there's no one in this life I can trust. It isn't that you read my words.

Loved the first two books which were original, gripping and emotional. This one was BORING. and to be honest a bit pointless. At first at just over 200 pages I thought ... Hmm not very long.. but it dragged on... this could easily have been half as long and given as an extended epilogue on the author's website. Its a shame that they had to climb on the whole BDSM bandwagon that is so popular right now (YAWN). Yes we get to know more about Caleb's past and see how he is coping now but to be honest the ending of the second book was perfect the way it was.

This sort of cheapens the series for me, I know it was written due to fan demand so obviously there was a market but it is not a patch on the other two as the excitement and anticipation of the story had come to its natural end.

I would buy work from this author again as she is obviously very talented, but think she should stick to her integrity with quality rather than just churning out for the market

Felt bored reading this, no tension or drama...the epilogue of the book before meant we knew what was going to happen. Didn't like her writing as Calab.
Not sure what the point was.

I think the clue to Caleb & Livvie's story is in the title of the books - The Dark Duet. I think readers fall into two camps over this book. Those who couldn't get enough of Caleb & Livvie's story & desperately wanted CJ to write another book & those like me, who think the first two books were fantastic, dark, super & the Epilogue at the end of the second book was where everything should have finished.

That said this book was OK, but I did find it a bit slow & boring - nothing seemed to happen. I had no problem with it being written from Caleb's viewpoint. However I think this third book could have been much more interesting. Caleb could have gone in search of his father. Just think of all the scrapes the pair of them could have got up to?! Maybe Caleb may have been persuaded back to the dark side etc., etc.

I still think CJ's books are amazing & will look out for more to read. I just didn't think this book lived up to the previous two books.
