How do get over betrayal by the two people who mean the most to you and what do you do when temptation is placed in your path. This is an intensly passionate look at what happens when trust is lost in a marriage, tough decisions have to be made. Can you move past the hurt and remember the love you had or is it too late. My only gripe I wanted a big confrontation, it was kind of glossed over an do wanted more.

Entice, The Affair Series, book 1, S. Layne
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.

Genre: Erotica, Romance

Well, I like the sound of this, though I’m not keen on cheating in a novel there’s no denying it does create drama – and I love that.

Anyway. we meet Laurie who’s had her world rocked – and not in a good way. There she was thinking she had it all, perfect loving husband, her first and only love, great job that she enjoys and a couple of fabulous best friends. Then at a dinner party at their house she overhears her husband talking about an affair...and it turns out he cheated on her with one of her best friends, his secretary!

He’s sorry, says it was a one off, and vows it will never happen again, but of course she’s still there as his secretary, nothing he can do about that and Laurie is still in shock. She doesn’t know if she can ever get back what they had. James is desperate to make amends, and seems to bitterly regret what happened. In a way I kind of felt sorry for him, one huge mistake and he’s risked everything. It’s clear that his secretary is no real friend to Laurie, and has just been waiting for the right moment, but that doesn’t excuse what he did. He seems such a great guy, truly loves Laurie – but he cheated, and it takes someone special to be able to get past that. He can’t explain why he did it and so Laurie can’t see why he wouldn’t do it again – they’re going round in circles, and getting nowhere. She wants to go to counselling but he won’t – its reached decision time and she’s got a work event needing her away for a few days. That will give her space to think and she says she’ll decide one way or the other then.

Its not that simple though when she bumps into Liam at the hotel.

Entice is a intriguing start to The Affair Series. It's dramatic, unpredictable and is full of love, lust, lies and betrayal. It's an emotional read with strong characters and an interesting storyline. I can't wait to read the next book in the series as I have absolutely no idea which direction this story is going to go in. I was impressed with the author's writing style, it flows well and is easy to read.

Laurie has been betrayed by her husband and her best friend and is taking a few days away to decide what her future holds. While at the hotel she meets Liam and is instantly attracted to him. Liam is handsome, mysterious and oh so sexy. He invites her to dinner, but Laurie is unsure if she should go as she is still a married woman despite her husband's betrayal.

I don't usually like books with cheating in them, but in this case I can understand why Laurie is tempted by Liam - she has been betrayed by the people closest to her, her self esteem is at an all time low and Liam is pretty irresistable. Laurie's emotional struggles and battles with her conscience made great reading. I really felt for Laurie, it seemed like everyone in her life was letting her down and betraying her.

Liam is a bit of an enigma, he plays his cards close to his chest. He is very sexy and seems to care for Laurie, but I'd like to know more about him. I really didn't like James, Laurie's husband, to start with but I am starting to like him now. He seems genuinely remorseful about his affair, and obviously still loves his wife, but I'm not sure if he can be trusted.

I can't wait to to find out more about Laurie's men and to see what happens next in the next book. Entice was a well written, emotional, enjoyable book and I give it five out of five stars.

Entice is book 1 in the Affair series and is a highly addictive and emotional read by S Layne.

When Laurie Baker attends a medical conference on behalf of her ParaMed Cells CEO boss she utilises the opportunity to contemplate her future after discovering 3 months previously her husband James had betrayed her with his assistant whose also her best friend Becky. It's decision time for Laurie: stay and forgive James and be the dutiful wife she's been brought up to be or divorce him and see what the uncertain future has to offer.

Laurie literally bumps into the charming, sexy and commanding Liam Parker upon arrival at the conference and he sparks something inside her she hasn't felt in long time: desire, passion and need... Liam offers a proposition to Laurie that she's enticed to accept "a night of pleasure.... I promise pleasure and freedom, but it always ends." She accepts feeling hurt, angry and wanting to escape the pain her husband's actions have caused so the old 'an eye for an eye' mentality inspires her to agree but she does not realise that her world is about to be forever changed in more ways than she could ever envisage.

S Layne does not simplify the acts of betrayal by married people in this book, she shows it's messy, painful and feelings don't just switch off over night. She shows how people make mistakes, bad decisions and have to live with the consequences of these actions: Liam, James and Laurie each make many questionable choices throughout this book, but it makes them more real.

As the book is told from Laurie's POV you can feel her conflict between betrayal and hurt at James and then her own actions that make her feel guilty.
