I enjoyed this game both for the engaging story and for the fun action.
The setting is a post apocalyptic, futuristic New York / surroundings. Everything is overgrown and rubbled, but there are still robots and interesting tech around.
You play Monkey who starts the game escaping a slaveship with another prisoner (Trip) who ends up enslaving you to help her get home.
Monkey is aptly named as there is plenty of climbing and jumping around required as you explore the area and help get Trip safely back home. If Trip dies, you die so you have to draw attention to yourself to make sure she's ok. Luckily Trip works with you and you can get her to throw up distractions too, allowing you to sneak around and flank your enemies.
There are some interesting situations, enemies, bosses and levels to play through and beat and there's a hoverboard that you can use in a few levels. Anything with a hoverboard is automatically win!
The story is engaging, the voice acting is good and the action is fun. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game.
