Introduced by Mike Atherton, this dvd contains some great memories of rare English triumphs in the 1990s, but in places seems to be somewhat biased towards Atherton's personal achievements rather than those of the team. How on earth can any compilation of 1990s England performances not include Edgbaston 1997 v Australia, a glorious match which captured the nation's attention and was England's only victory in a 'live' Ashes test that decade, or Sabina Park 1990, when England pulled off an astonishing victory as huge underdogs in the Carribean, when the West Indies were still great. Instead we have Johannesburg 1995, where Athers played an admittedly amazing innings, but basically bored the South African bowlers to death for about 6 weeks to earn an unlikely but dull draw. It was a great achievement, but surely on a disc of England's six best of the decade there is no room for a draw! It was a mixed decade for our cricketing fortunes but victories weren't that scarce! Apart from the 2 I have mentioned, Adelaide 1994 is another far more worthy choice that springs to mind.
There are some great moments here though, such as Devon malcolm's single handed demolition of South Africa in 1994, or Headley and Gough's skittling of the Aussies at Melbourne in 1998. Its just a bit short on actual action.
