Our Engevita savoury yeast condiment is a nutritional vegan food with a cheesy, nutty taste made from primary inactive yeast without artificial additives or preservatives. Engevita yeast flakes provides one of the richest natural sources of the B-group vitamins and trace elements. Engevita is a purely natural food, a primary strain of Saccharomyces Cerevasiae, grown on enriched purified molasses under carefully controlled conditions. This ensures freedom from candida albicans yeast. This product does not contain any genetically modified organisms.

As a cheese loving vegetarian of 14 years that has recently made the jump to vegan, I was naturally A: terribly upset about no longer being able to eat cheddar, halloumi, brie, mozzarella, and so on, and B: very VERY skeptical that anything that claims to be "vegan cheese" could taste like anything other than old socks and sweaty scrotums.

Then my 3 (enormous) pots of Engevita arrived. Impatiently I ripped open one and stuck my finger in to grab a pinch. Well. Safe to say, I was pretty disappointed with the flavour, though smug at being proved right over my earlier taste assumptions.

Determined not to give in so easily, I then followed a recipe for vegan Parmesan (blitz cashew nuts, Engevita, salt and garlic powder till fine) which I applied liberally to a creamy mushroom pasta I'd made. Meh. Not bad, not great, thought I, as I enviously watched my thoroughly omnivorous OH devouring his portion with liberal amounts of extra mature cheddar.

Still not deterred, I then made a vegan pizza, roasted Mediterranean veg, and a roast garlic and pesto bread for sharing, topping both with vast quantities of vegan Parmesan. Holy moly. My tastebuds must have changed overnight, because sweet Jesus, those 2 dishes were a cheesy, delicious kind of food sex that you brag about for weeks after.

Last night I made asparagus and kale linguine with pesto, and yep, guess what I topped it with. Vegan Parmesan. It's just too good. I licked my plate clean with only my dog Brian to judge me. No shame.

Give it a try, then try it again, then once more, and then become obsessed like me. Welcome to the Engevita Addict's Club.

I have not tried nutritional yeast before but I read about it's health benefits and thought I would give it a try as a savoury condiment to my food

I was looking at a baked zucchini recipe which used nutritional yeast on it as part of the coating and I thought it sounded like an interesting ingredient to add flavour and health benefits

I opened the tub a bit apprehensively due to some of the reviewers not being that fussed with the taste of it and a small amount tried and there was a zing of flavour including the taste of the yeast but it was not overpowering and my second try straight after was even nicer and I could not taste the yeast flavour so much but that savoury cheesy flavour which I can see why others get HOOKED on as I reckon I will be sprinkling this on everything plus having some straight from the tub when I fancy something savoury as I don't have a sweet tooth as much as a savoury one and the BONUS is it does me good so I will be keeping an eye on the price and subscribing with Amazon as this is one item I would like to always have in my cupboard! :-)

Word of warning: this stuff is highly addictive and you will start putting it on and in pretty much everything, there's no going back.

It's super versatile, you can sprinkle it on pasta like parmesan, stir it into risotto, make vegan mac'n'cheese sauce out of it, put it into homemade vegan pestos, flavour tofu scramble with it, use it as cheese on vegan pizza - the possibilities are endless!

I've tried a few different brands but this one with the B12 really is the best. Also, buying in bulk on Amazon works out cheaper than getting it from the shops if you're like me and finish a tub in less than two weeks. 10/10

When you can successfully make "mac and cheese" with no dairy - that's something special. When it becomes your go to topping for beans on toast? That's a winner. I am a huge fan of Nutritional Yeast! Not only for it's nutritional goodness, but for the taste as well. I started adding it to my meals for the extra Vitamin B (needed an energy boost), but now I add it flavour purposes. It can be added to almost all meals, but especially if you're after a nutty, cheesy taste. I have been slowing cutting dairy out of my diet, and nutritional yeast fills the void of no cheese and cream. I use nutritional yeast often; cheese sauce for pasta (olive oil, flour, almond milk, paprika, garlic granules & nutritional yeast), pizza topping, sprinkled over a baked sweet potato with a drizzle of olive oil. Give the flavour a chance, you'll soon be eating it by the spoonful.

This product is a vegan staple, it's enriched with lots of really good vitamins and minerals that you might be struggling a little to get on a vegan diet. You don't need to add a lot to your food to meet your requirements of a lot of the enriched minerals/vitamins.

It has a nutty, cheesy flavour that I think you might be initially disappointed if you've recently turned vegan and heard people rave about it, but the flavour really grows on you. I use it to make vegan cheese sauce, pasties, broccoli and cheese soup, even cheesy mashed potatoes and it adds a delicious, if slightly unique, flavour to all of these foods. Personally not the sort of person who would eat it on it's own, but it's an amazing complimentary flavour.

It also lasts for ages, I've been vegan 3 months and have so far used 1 full container and have 2 left (I bought the 3 pack), I will say that my use of it has scaled up as time has gone along as I've started to enjoy the flavour a whole lot more! I would also say that the 3 pack is really good value, and if you're unsure whether you'll like the flavour, unless you add loads, a spoon or so in a pan of soup will go unnoticed and give you a boost of healthy vitamins/minerals.
