The definitive surf movie, this 1966 documentary by Bruce Brown is beautifully shot and thrilling to see in its portrait of youthful freedom on the world's shores. Brown followed two surfers around the globe in their quest for the perfect wave, finding it eventually on a remote beach far from home. The narration by "Big Kahuna Brown" cuts through the reverence a bit, being cheeky in tone. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com --This text refers to the DVD edition.
Breathtaking, sweeping and exciting. --Newsweek

Nothing to say here: Either you get it or you don't. Each to their own... but one thing: where would the human race be without exploring the impossible and testing the limits? Plus hilarious old footage of (not so long ago) old Africa as it was just a generation ago. Enjoy!

If you're in to surfing then you've got to be able to say that you've seen this. It's probably THE classic surf documentary, following two guys on their global search for the perfect wave. Made in the sixties, the fact that it is so dated (in the narration, set-piece scenes and also what constitutes a perfect wave) makes it even more enjoyable. If Alan Wicker had made a surf travel documentary....
