About the Author

In a former life, H.M. Clarke has been a Console Operator, Public Servant, ICT Project Manager, Paper Shuffler and an Accountant (the last being the most exciting.) She also has a degree in how to blow things up and then write about why it blew up. In her spare time, she likes to lay on the couch and watch TV, read and tell ALL her family what wonderful human beings they are. She keeps threatening to go out and get a real job (Chocolate Test Taster sounds good) and intends to retire somewhere warm and dry – like the middle of the Simpson Desert. For the time being however, she is an Aussie in Ohio and dreams about being warm…

Well paced, complex without being complicated and great characters and plot - potentially a great series. A nice surprise from a genre I don't regularly read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sci-Fi at its Best! 4 Oct. 2014
By Barbara D. - Published on Amazon.com

The Enclave is an excellent sci-fi novel. It is a story of vengeance that takes place in the future, but it touches upon a very sensitive and current problem: the issues raised by the treatment of asylum seekers and refugees.
The book is very well written, the characters are well defined and the pace of the book is fast and loaded with tension.
I really enjoyed The Enclave and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes an action packed story with an excellent plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Kick Butt Heroine - And She's Out For Revenge 29 July 2014
By Voracious Reader - Published on Amazon.com

Author H.M Clarke has managed to create an original in a genre that has been well-explored with her book The Enclave. A science fiction set in Australia, the book centers around Katherine, a tough heroine that has experienced a great deal of personal loss. Although it's got some science fiction aspects to it, this book will appeal to those that enjoy stories set in military like settings. IE - If you liked the Aliens film series, I believe you will REALLY love this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Heroine to Root For 31 July 2014
By Gina Briganti - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I’ve just finished reading my second book by H.M. Clarke and her range is pretty stunning. I read The Kalarthri first, book 1 of The Way to Freedom series, which was a fantasy suitable for any age. The Enclave is every bit as intriguing and imaginative, but worlds apart. To begin with, I would recommend this for an older audience because of the mild violence and the more sophisticated storyline.

The Enclave is a Sci-Fi space adventure with lots of action and intrigue. The main characters are all very well written and likable, which adds so many dimensions for me. Commander Katherine Kirk is one of those awesome kick-ass heroines you love to read about. She also shows a vulnerability at times that makes her even more worthy of the title of heroine. She has not had an easy time, and she’s not looking for one. What she wants is to make the world a safer place.

If you’ve read Christine Feehan’s GhostWalker series, you will be familiar with some of the scientific experimentation going on in one of the enclaves Katherine works so diligently to defend.

So now, I’m waiting patiently for another book from this series.

Please join me on Goodreads to discuss “The Enclave” if you read it or have read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Loved this book 27 Aug. 2016
By Kindle Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I Loved this book! It's been a long time since I've read a book and gotten into the characters from the get go! I shed a tear at the loss of one, laughed at some of the quirky sayings of others, and anticipated a love affair that kept me hanging. It was hard to put down ! I've never read anything by this author (H.M.Clarke) before, but I can say you now have another loyal fan!!!! Can't wait for the next one. I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
