Whilst I did enjoy this book there were a few things that bugged me . I thought Klara being taken in her own home was unrealistic considering all the security Vlad would have knowing a threat was imminent . I was gutted about Faina and wished Vlad had his last scene with Klara and not with Killian . I understand book two is about Liam , but why when there's still so much unanswered here in this book. I would have also liked some dialogue with Vlad and Klara about the baby , but we got none .... I will read book two but as I say it did leave me feeling that I needed slightly more for my satisfaction ...

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS.

This book opens with Vlad Zalesky torturing Enzen Koslief, a traitor, conspirator, collaborating against the brotherhood itself. Vlad brands him but before he can personally kill him Enzen's five year old daughter Klara rushes in Vlad grabs her and issues the kill order.
Vlad isn't quite the heartless beast we originally suspected and so he keeps Klara close, living in his home with his sister Faina and son Veniamin.
The problem is Klara is now a beautiful innocent twenty year old and Vlad is trying his best keep his distance and not notice just how attractive and spirited she is.
Vlad is a complicated guy and while I understand the pressure he's under from all sides there were times when I just didn't like him at all but then I think that's the idea.
This was an entertaining read which I just couldn't put down and while I had several issues I enjoyed it from the first page to the last.
I didn't like that Vlad was with Katrina and while he knew he didn't feel anything for her the fact that she visits his home and spends time in his bed gives the impression to her and everyone else that's she more.
I was so disappointed in Vlad, after Katrina did what she did and then had the nerve to turn up to Klara's party I expected Vlad to put her in her place once and for all but instead he welcomed her into his bed again.
While I enjoyed this book Vlad for the most part seemed pretty ineffective and the way he dismissed Katrina as harmless was pretty stupid especially considering he knew what she was capable of and then there's the woman scorned bit and all that.
Klara, for the most part I really liked her but at times, especially towards the end she annoyed me a bit.
While I'd previously read some of the reviews that was a while ago and so I'd forgotten it's a cliffy, I'm undecided about continuing on.

This is the first time I have read any of this authors work, but I will certainly be reading more from her in the future.
Vlad is of Russian descent and a sexy, alpha. Klara has been brought up in his home since childhood.
This is a forbidden, taboo, and twisted romance, filled with dram, angst, and lust. This is an intense, emotional storyline, so be warned, and keep the tissues on hand! I was hooked and intrigued from the very beginning of this book, and I cannot wait to read more of this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book!

DNF @ 50% life's too short.

I was totally bored with it all. Wooden, 1D characters. Vlad was a Neanderthal. Totally unsexy and ignorant. Klara like her name, was weird; one minute a total innocent, the next a sex siren. The pace was sloooowwwww to slower. I kept turning pages looking for something interesting but nah, nothing. I gave up when I acknowledged I couldn't care less what happened. It was FREE to read with Kindle Unlimited - which is not Free - so neither was this dreadful book. ;-)

Like so many Mafia books this one is no different, the niaevity of Klara was annoying. This book also makes statements in parts but then acts out the opposite later, an example of which is when it states that Mafia families always show solidarity at death yet where is Vory at the end!!!
