This is the prequel to the famous Gypsy Brothers series starting with Cartel, then Kingpin and then Empire. This is all about Mariane, Dornan and John and how the whole sordid wonderful story came about. We get to see just how Dornan got to be the evil dark monster he turns into to, but against all odds I can't help but love this man sometimes when I should really be hating his guts.
If you like dark then you'll love this because it delivers on all levels. Violence, murder, abuse, blood and gore, lust, hate, sex and love. I didn't expect the ending we got, didn't see it coming at all - but what an ending it was !!
If anyone says what is the point of reading this series because it's a prequel to the Gypsy Brothers, please please don't listen to them. It is a MUST read series just like the Gypsy Brothers is, and we get all the answers as to why Dornan turns out the way he did - and what a journey it is.
NOT TO BE MISSED !!!!!!!
Full circle, the pieces all aligning to complete the enigmatic puzzle that is Dornan Ross. The demons within are desperately clawing for full reign; baying for blood, delighting in other's fears, basking in the entrails...the more they are fed they hungrier they become and Dornan is tired of fighting a losing battle. Raised as the only son of the Kingpin of Il Sangue cartel he is the product of one man's vision to rule the world; show no remorse, always make an example of those that dare to oppose, and always make them suffer. Loathing the life he has been forced into by his father Dornan has a choice to make - embrace who he was born to be, succumb to the darkness or continue a battle he is not even sure why he is fighting even more...The woman he loved has committed the ultimate betrayal and as the truth is revealed Dornan's reality starts to crumble, the moral lines of what he is willing to do and what he isn't become very very blurred and his hands become stained with the blood of the innocent. His reason for not allowing the darkness to consume totally slowly becomes distant, cold, uncaring and the fear and doubt feed his monsters that want to be free. Some things can never be forgiven but if redemption can't be earned is there any point continuing to chase it? How does a man become a monster...he just stops caring about being loved, he becomes so drunk on power and fear that nothing else matters as it buries the truth underneath a pile of bones.Read more ›
Through the Gypsy Brothers series, we witnessed Dornan at his lowest but through Cartel, Kingpin and now Empire, we’ve experienced Dornan’s evolution into the cold hearted killer and we now know why the darkness consumed him.
Mariana and John continue their relationship in secret but in doing so try to find a way to escape from Emilio and Dornan’s clutches. Dornan is still suspicious of Mariana, especially after finding the blood covered phone she had hidden away and he is determined to find out what secrets Mariana is keeping from him.
Agent Lindsay is getting closer to finding the truth as to what happened to his missing agents, Allie and Murphy. Allie’s body holds significant clues and these lead directly to Il Sangue but more importantly, to Mariana. John and Guillermo are the only people who Mariana can trust and with Dornan breathing down their necks, they know that they must act quickly to save Mariana from both Dornan and the FBI.
Jase and Juliette are now firmly part of the story as we see how their connection came about. From its infancy, their bond was formed through heartache as Dornan wreaks revenge on those who have kept his son from him. John, his once best friend and Gypsy Brothers' president has played a part in keeping Dornan’s first love Stephanie and Jase from Dornan but this secret is about to be the downfall of not only Dornan but also those around him. From a loving, but hardened criminal, Dornan is now a brutal killer who shows no remorse and as a result, he’s no longer the man Mariana fell in love with.Read more ›
