Trust me I know that feeling of getting totally absorbed in a series of books. I was looking for a new story and after reading reviews and searching for recommendations I came across this.
After reading this first book in the series I can safely say once I've finished this review I'll be jumping straight into book two. I don't like reviews that go into details of the story in books is you won't find that here, what I will say is if you pick this book up you Will get pulled in and you Will be jumping straight into book two as surely as I will be in the next 5 minutes. Enjoy.

I had high hopes due to the reviews but after a promising start the pacing went out the door, the characters were annoyingly slow witted, the story hardly moved and was extremely predictable. Overall I felt no emotional evolvement and very little excitement. It wasn't terrible, but I won't be continuing.

Having just read the trilogy back to back, I can say I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a series this much. Plenty of unexpected twists and character development, religion, politics and violence. Definitely worth reading and sticking with.

Really well defined main protagonists and a few twists along the way. Bit slow to start with but that's world building for you.

Fantastic beginning, great characters . Builds and builds a ripping yarn. Couldn't ask for more in the first book of a trilogy. Can't wait for the rest.

Surprisingly brilliant, with more twists and turns than a corkscrew in a helix. The whole series kept me guessing till the very end...
