Good for a general understanding of emotions but perhaps a missed opportunity
on 24 September 2014
I really enjoyed Hasson's 'Mindfulness' and so had high expectations for this book, but unfortunately it fell short of them. Emotional intelligence as a concept has almost been worked to death now in the self-help world of motivating soundbites and this book adds little to the millions of words already written about it. It has some good basic explanations of what emotions are, how they affect you in varying ways that can include the physical [an aspect often overlooked] but on the whole the book is rather rudimentary and repetitive with no real thought-provoking passages to think of. A decent enough, slim volume for a grounding in a general understanding of emotions, but not much more substantial than that unfortunately, at the end of the day.
