I live next to a river in beautiful Bedfordshire with my husband and two golden retrievers, Freya and Ellie. My working days always begin with a long walk, and a swim in the river for the dogs, unless I’m booked for a school or library visit. School visits include a lively and fun slideshow and talk followed by a Q and A. The sessions also often include an appearance by Freya and Ellie who might demonstrate the work of assistance dogs - for copious treats. Freya's also a Pets As Therapy dog.

I love writing books about animals and history for KS2 and have four books set during WW2, two during WW1 and one about the Great Fire of London. I’ve also got books about assistance dogs and animal sanctuaries. As you might have guessed I’m a huge animal lover!

I'm also a fluent sign language user and so happy that the first book in my new series for KS1: 'Lizzie and Lucky; The Mystery of the Missing Puppies' has been translated into BSL . The translation can be seen on the Royal Association of the Deaf's You Tube channel.

Although I usually write for children my career as Megan Rix started with a book for adults, my memoir ‘The Puppy that Came for Christmas’ that went on to become a Sunday Times bestseller.
