HASH(0x9637f030) out of 5 stars Beautiful, Honest Words 11 April 2000
By A Customer - Published on
Format: Paperback
Diane Wakoski is one of those poets that grabs you with her honesty and her crystalline lyrics. Although her poems are usually fiercely personal, Wakoski's strength lies in her ability not only to translate her grief, but to allow the reader to find something of themselves in it. She is a wonderful writer, whom I can recommend without reservation. My favorite piece from Emerald Ice- I Have Had To Learn To Live With My Face.
HASH(0x97bd6564) out of 5 stars Admirable Verse 30 May 2016
By B. J Robbins - Published on
Format: Paperback
Hi, Diane!!! This is Bruce Robbins. I was in your class around the late 1970's. Remember me? The poem about garlic, someone seeing somebody else they thought they knew on a bus, but it turned out not to be the person they though it was, and the poem about the girl who was visited by a friend, in a mental hospital, and she screams and flails during the visit? We met in your apartment, and once met at the bar that Dylan Thomas drank in, and that hotel where all those great writes met.

I loved being with all these good writers. It was so much fun, and a learning experience.

I have a book up on Amazon, with my old poems (most of the poems I wrote for your class are lost except the final one, the one you seemed to like), plus two short stories and trivia. It's not up on Kindle yet, but I intend to do so, so you can get it pretty cheap.

It is called "A Dozen Poems Au Cafe Noir" by b.j. Robbins. Bruce is my name. Hope this gets to you and you are in good health.

HASH(0x96bb1ad4) out of 5 stars The Feminist Poet's Bible 14 Jan. 2002

Format: Paperback
Wakoski's beautiful & brutal language weaves itself into a poetric lyric that is unmatched in women's poetry today. She attacks every subject & issue with intensity and strips flesh from bone. This collection is a MUST HAVE.

Diane Wakoski has been a very prolific poet over her long life, and this is an excellent collection of her earlier work.
