I bought this book on the back of receiving an ARC for Entice (Book 1) and was drawn in by Laurie's character and her handling of the bombshell she had on discovering her husband James had had an affair with his assistant and her best friend. She embarked on what was to be a one night stand with the sexy Liam Parker, but when he turned out to be her new boss, Laurie knew their passionate fling was over.

This book was a great conclusion to this story of betrayal and how a couple who loved each other coped in the aftermath of their infidelity. There was plenty of steamy sexual content, but I was particularly blown away by how well the author really conveyed the emotions felt by Laurie and James. No spoilers here about the ending other than to say I LOVED this series and look forward to reading more by this author.

Embrace, The Affair Series, book 2, S. Layne
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.
Genre: Erotica, Romance
I loved part one, full of action and drama but somehow part two has lost that magic for me. Laurie is looking for answers, reeling from everything that was dropped on her in book one, where her private and business lives collided and collapsed. James refuses to give up on her, but she’s still head over heels with Liam. He seems to be promising more one moment but in the next saying he’s happy as they are...running hot and cold again really. That's what put me off in the first book, even though he’s clearly an incredibly charismatic man. It makes me wonder just why he’s like this. What happened to him? Sadly we don’t get any answers to that – maybe in another book? I feel he’s got such potential if the right person could unravel all the things holding him back. He doesn’t seem to thing there’s a problem though, so until then he’ll carry on as he has been. Its going to be a lonely time for him at some point in his future.
James; he really made up for so much here, though at times like Laurie I was - what the heck is he annoyed about – he’s the one who cheated, had someone else’s hands all over him when Laurie thought everything was perfect. He’s so jealous of Liam, even though he acknowledges he’s at fault. He still can’t seem to tell Laurie what was wrong though, but she discovers though he wouldn’t go for counselling when she suggested it he now is seeing a counsellor. That’s a huge step in the right direction and finally it seems as if he realizes they need to work out what went wrong somehow if he is to persuade her to try again.

Embrace by S Layne is the second book of her 'the affair series'. It's the follow up book to Entice and you need to have read that one first to follow this story line.

This book starts the Monday after the dramatic ending of the previous Friday when in one dramatic revelation Laurie's certain plans for the future were once again irrevocably thrown in turmoil due to discovering her own father and her new boss/ lover Liam Parker had been keeping huge secrets from her regarding her workplace and her adulterous husband was still desperately trying to make amends. Laurie is left in a tailspin of what to do next in her life and who to trust.

"If it was simple and didn't hurt so much, forgiving you wouldn't be so hard."

Laurie has a choice to make: To stay with Liam who lied to her, forgive James and try a reconciliation or to be on her own. She's drawn to Liam as he ignites something new inside her but is this all just a convenient arrangement for him until he moves on or is there a chance for more? He's her boss, so it's complicated. What he says and how he acts are complete contradictions, Liam clearly cares for Laurie but something is holding him back from fully opening up, can Laurie be the one to help him see he's worth more than what he allows himself to have from a relationship or does he not want more than to give her pleasure?
Then she has James, he's willing to fight to the end for her forgivenesses and love. He realises it was more than his adultery that was his greatest mistake. They have a past and shared history but can Laurie move on from the hate she feels towards him to forgive him and learn to trust him again or should she just stay on her own; be independent?

In the midst of all this a family tragedy occurs.

Embrace is book two in The Affair series, and it picks up right where Entice finished. Although I enjoyed this book, I didn't love it as much as I did the first book. It just seemed a little slow in places and it didn't have the ending that I wished for. It is a very emotional read as the heroine is reeling from betrayal from everyone who is important to her. Most people will know of a couple whose world has been rocked by an affair, and this makes it a very realistic and touching book.

Laurie has been betrayed by her husband James and her best friend, and at the end of the first book she is shocked to discover that her lover Liam and her father have also been lying to her. Laurie has a lot of decisions to make in this book. Both Liam and James want her back - who can she trust and who does she really want? Or is she better off without both of them? I'm not going to say much else about the storyline, as I don't want to accidentally drop any spoilers.

This is good read, and an enjoyable ending to Laurie's story. There are lots of hot moments in this book, the chemistry between Laurie and the men is electric, but there is a lot more to this book. It is an emotional tale of love, trust, forgiveness and family. Embrace gets four out of five stars.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
