Ember is the third book in The Black Inferno series by K T Fisher and moves onto Roxie and Mason Masse. Mason is the enigmatic brother of Cole, lead singer of the band Black Inferno, and Roxie is the best friend of Lacey, Cole's girlfriend.
These two have had a connection from their first meeting in book one Heat and sizzled throughout the second book Ignite too but all that turned to ash when Roxie's self destructive behaviour lead her to break Mason's and her own heart with her actions and refusal to admit her problems to anyone, let alone herself. Those actions lead Roxie to rehab and Mason with a broken heart.

Ember begins with Roxie leaving rehab and feeling determined to conquer her demon's and make amends with her friends and Mason. But that's hindered with a secret she has to keep, one that could effect both their future's forever once it's revealed and any hope of reconciliation. Plus with living with Lacey and the band so soon after rehab comes the temptations that a bands lifestyle entails: drinks, drugs and a life of excess to battle daily as well.

Time has been hard for both Mason and Roxie, they've equally felt hurt, angry and alone. Mason is determined to safe guard his heart by staying away from Roxie, no matter how much it hurts himself but that behaviour leaves Roxie feeling more alone than ever and feeling more dejected and vulnerable at this emotional healing time for her. Her friends and the band all offer support, but that's not the same as the forgiveness and connection Mason could offer her if only he'd give her a chance to apologise. With her secret also weighing heavily on her shoulders will this drive her back to last addictions and into further danger??

K T Fisher, you are an absolute diamond of an author. I read this in one sitting and just couldn’t put it down until I found out whether everyone would get what they deserved, be it a HEA or not, in the end.

Roxie has come out of rehab and wants to build bridges with Mason. Mason is being a typical bloke and is not really engaging with Roxie and only thinking of himself. This may seem selfish but Roxie broke his heart and the only way he can repair himself and protect himself, is by not giving his heart back to her. So instead, he’s busy burrowing his c-ck into a bevy of women to try and forget. But when you love someone, and we all knew Mason loved Roxie, it’s not that easy to forget.

This book is full of great characters. Although the story focussed on Roxie and Mason, all the other band mates and friends were there. Cole and Lacey are still humping at every opportunity and totally loved up. Then there’s all the girls and Tate and Booker….all bringing that extra little something to enhance the main characters and the story.

This is definitely a story that shows how important trust and friendships are. The friends were all protective of each other and that was nice to read how they gelled so well.

Ms Fisher has written a superb trilogy and if it was possible to award you more than 5* then I would. I loved the way you created such diverse characters. I loved how in this group they were all so different and how they took the weakest under their wings. It felt real. The emotional stuff brought a lump to my throat. I felt hatred for Joe, helpless for the situation, sadness for Roxie, understanding for Mason, frustration at some of the happenings.

Fantastically written book that I would recommend all day long.

******** Reviewed for Sarah & Kirsty's Book Reviews ********

If you like Hot, Tattooed, Band Members then you don't want to miss this series! This is Book 3 in the Black Inferno Series, and tell the story of Roxie and Mason. After Roxie's downfall in Book 2 when she realised she had fallen in love with her best friend Lacey, she is on a downward spiral and ends up with a drinking problem and sleeps with a roadie Joe who later rapes and blackmails her. All the while Mason her boyfriend is trying to reach out to her and help her. Roxie's parents collect her and take her to rehab, which Mason pays to upgrade to a better place. Once rehab is over Roxie joins Lacey and turns to her friends for support to try to overcome the guilt and bad feeling she had caused and to try to repair the relationship she had with Mason. She is keeping a very big secret that she doesn't know how reveal and Mason is currently avoiding her and hasn't spoken to her since before rehab. This was a very sinister and dark story in places and had me hooked to find out how it all ends, I totally underestimated Joe's character and I was so shocked when his storyline was revealed! In fact I was steam blowing out of my ears angry! The story was written brilliantly and went exactly where I wanted and more! I loved the way it ended and I fell in love with the Masse brothers all over again! I cant wait for the next instalment!

This is a series that keeps getting better and better!! Picking up from the end of Ignite, Roxie is back after her time in rehab sorting our her life. What happened to lead her to that point still haunts her. Can Roxie and Mason put the past behind them and move forward together or will it keep them apart? With Joe still around, Roxie can never truly move on with her life, especially when he hits close to home in his attempts to get to her.
Mason and Roxie have come so far and they both recognise the roles they both played in the events that got them to this point. Both still love and care for each other but is it too late?
Roxie has had to work hard to fight her demons and come to terms with who she is, which is a demonstration of the strength we have seen throughout the series. With the support and love from those around her, just may be her future is looking brighter.
Mason has his own demons to come to terms with and his way of coping nearly destroys the chance to be with Roxie. Once he realises what it is he wants, he shows us the Mason we fell in love with, with his perfect insights, sensitivity and patience.
This was an action packed read, with an explosive end but packed full of emotions too, with the raw emotion from Mason and Roxie. A perfect balance of action and emotion which made this the best in the series so far for me.
