Dear reader! Are you looking for a book on friendship, love and quilts? Or just one of the three? Than this is the book for you. "An Elm Creeks Album" is the collection of novels 4-6 in Jennifer Chiaverini's wonderful series. In "The runaway Quilt" one of the series main heroine Sylvia Compson are presented with a quilt that is connected to Elm Creek manor and to slavery, and we follow her quest to find out about her ancstors. It is a wonderful weave of contemporary fiction and historical fiction, and Ms. Chiaverini's love for quilts and friendship among quilters fills the stories with warmth! The second book in the album is "The Quilter's legacy" - Sylvia is searching for her mother's lost quilts, and while on the look for them we learn about her mother's childhood, her love for Sylvia's father and for their children. Like the previous novel this is also a combination of contemporary and past time, but while the past in "The runaway Quilt" is portrayed in a diary, the past in "The Quilter's legacy" is brought to us more directly via every other main chapter being the story of Sylvia and every other is about her Mother. Like the other novels in the series "The Quilter's legacy" i filled with warmth and love. The last novel in the album is "The Master quilter" - here we follow Sylvia's friends in their lives' ups and downs while they work on making Sylvia's bridal sampler quilt - another marvolous story! I love these novels, and i warmly recomend them to you! I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have!

Jennifer Chiaverini and her Elm Creek Quilts books came onto my radar thanks to my husband, who brought one home for me to read from his work's lending library. I enjoyed it so much that I promptly began buying every title in the series I could find. An Elm Creek Quilts Album contains the 4th, 5th, and 6th books in the series and picks up where the Sampler left off in the lives of the quilters. With each book I read, I become more attached to the ladies of Elm Creek Quilts, and more drawn in to their difficulties and joys. Chiaverini has created a beautiful community of quilters featuring characters that are believable and deep. I've enjoyed these books so much that I have decided to try quilting myself!

I always enjoy the Elm Creek Quilting books. As the series progresses we get to know more of the characters and their backgrounds. I do find them a trifle tedious here and there, especially when going over the same events from several points of view, but on the whole, they are an easy, pleasant read.

I really enjoy this series of books. The first book in the this compilation, The Runaway Quilt, was engrossing. The other two books were not quite as strong but still enjoyable reads. The last book in the compilation was a little repetitive and I got the feeling that the story, which was retold from different viewpoints, had been told to death by the end.

This book kept me enthralled whilst recovering from surgery. It also stimulated me to research the history of patchwork patterns, and has encouraged me to sign and date all my future quilting projects.
