Very disappointed. The item looks smart and is lightweight, with good magnification, but that's the end of the good news. Its special function - the illumination - is truly feeble.

This type of mirror is often found in hotel bathrooms and those give barely adequate light, but this has about 50% of that illumination at its maximum setting and is a cold white, rather than warm tungsten tone. Even in total darkness the light doesn't have the power to see the face in any detail - it's truly hopeless and its illumination is totally negated by any other light in the room.

It requires 4 x AA batteries to power the totally ineffective output. Not recommended.

I originally gave this four stars, but now after owning it a little over a month I've decided to change my review. When the batteries are fresh, the light is just about acceptable. Within a week, it becomes so dim as to be virtually indistinguishable from an unlit mirror. Unless you want to change the batteries every week (assuming ten-fifteen minutes' usage per day), you might as well get an unlit mirror. You can get an equivalent unlit mirror for about £12, so at this price the performance is unacceptable.

My original review below:

Plusses:
- good magnification with very little distortion
- pleasing blue-ish light (looks nicer than yellowish light)
- battery operated, so very portable
- adjustable light levels (turn the dial to make it brighter or dimmer)

Minuses:
- the led is non-replaceable, so when it goes, it's gone
- the light is fairly dim, so I can't imagine you'd ever want it set any lower than maximum brightness - which makes the adjustable aspect a bit irrelevant

Overall, seems reasonable quality. I never understand why lighted make-up mirrors are so expensive, but this one seems to be in line with other lit make-up mirrors of similar quality.

This mirror is OK, but for the price I would expect more. It's pretty well made, but not as sturdy and heavyweight as I would expect. The mirror is great, and shows up everything, but the light on this is no good. At the brightest, it's still not really bright enough. This mirror is great used in natural daylight, or at night in the right position to take advantage of bulb light, but I just don't see the point of the built in light.

The title explains it all in my view. A really good quality piece of mirrored glass with seven times magnification on the reverse side. The glass is 145mm diameter (about 5 3/4 inches) and is surrounded by an LED illuminated ring powered by four AA batteries. The mirror stands at around 345mm (about 13 1/2 inches) high, which seems about right on a dressing table.

Unfortunately the light output isn't great and for the most part it looks good but does not illuminate one's face; this immediately takes away any advantages that battery power might offer (such as use in bathrooms and power cuts etc).

The stand is finished in a brushed stainless steel look and I find the design a little 'industrial'; for me the spun metal base is reminiscent of a morris minor hub cap and the rotary on/off dimmer switch is rather chunky and the whole thing lacks elegance. Of course that's a personal opinion and I'm sure many would disagree about the aesthetics. Overall, a good-quality mirror, but the poor light quality lets the mirror down.

This is a great quality mirror, lovely to use and looks great in my room.

The size is ideal for on top of chest of drawers, or even in a bathroom as it's not too large but it is big enough to see your face clearly and apply make up.

One side magnifies and one is true to size. The magnify shows plenty of detail so you can see all your pores very well etc - although I do prefer the true to size as the magnify shows up my flaws!

You need to add batteries for the illumination to work, then that enhances how well you can see and is better for applying make up in good light.

It is a nice looking mirror and seems of good quality materials. The batteries make it portable and the two different levels of magnifying mirror work well.
Unfortunately, like other reviewers, I was less impressed with the lack of light output - even adjusted to the highest level. At that price I'd expect better.

This is a really well made mirror and pleasing to the eye, but I bought it because it was illuminated - which I took to mean that it lit up your face as you were using it. It doesn't. The light source is very weak and is only useful as a novelty glow. It does not illuminate the face in any useful way, although it could be handy if you find yourself in a total blackout, in which case you will just about be able to see yourself.

As a mirror this is hard to fault - the magnification is good and there is little distortion in the centre of the panes. The light is nice, but isn't really bright enough to help with much more than being a pleasant night light.
