Format: Kindle Edition
The subject matter of this book is so far outside my usual sphere of interest that a preliminary perusal of the story line made it seem certain I would not enjoy it. However, I was enthralled and found the story captivating and entirely credible. The characters are beautifully portrayed and depictions of the primitive treatments dispensed to the regimented inmates of an asylum in the 1920s and 1930s are violent and disturbing. It is a book which will live long in the memory, and it is a remarkable achievement by M L Gardner. Five stars are not enough!

M.L. Gardner is a master at character creation. I am not particularly fond of historical novels of any kind however the original story (1929) really gripped me and Elizabeth is an important part of the series. Be sure to look up Drifter as well in preparation for 1931 which, I believe is on its way.

The first book in the 1929 series was more a historical fiction, this book went off on a completely different track. Enjoyable but depends what you want from the story really. This became more paranormal than historical. I will, however be reading book three.

Another absolutely captivating read! The 2nd in the 1929 Series. Very cleverly interwoven with '1929' but totally different to the 1st book! Loved it! Highly recommended.
