No 1 Do not put in large potatoes small to medium size only
No 2 Do not over fill it with spuds always remember if the spuds cant dance around they wont rumble
No 3 Whichever rumbler you use you will always have to pop over them to get eyes out manually
I always wash spuds first and put a little more water in than you should and we have lovely spuds every time I would reccomend this item for price and the job it does
hope this helps
A potato peeler, bounced potatoes around against a scouring surface until most of the skin is removed. I said most of the skin because potatoes are not always the most helpful of things :-) They are irregularly shaped and can have very large indentations that stop the scouring surface coming into contact with ALL of the potato surface.
This can lead to some parts of the potato not being scraped every time. If you realise this, you will get on just fine with your new level of expectation :-)
Secondly, it does say in the manual, HOLD the unit FIRMLY on the top, that is to stop it bouncing all over the place with nearly 1KG of potatoes going mad inside it like a popcorn maker! LOL
Does it work, yes it works fine. Does it need a 500 horse power motor to do that, no it doesnt. If your jamming the motor, your doing it wrong!
(P.S. You do not need to peel potatoes for 10 minutes, hence why the motor was only DESIGNED to run for a few minutes, run it over that and yes, of course it might not like it, again, YOU are doing it wrong!)
So far my potatoes have come out fine, apart from the odd one, that was weirdly shaped (not the machines fault!) and any with deep eyes, that need to be removed with a knife. Though the vast majority come out just fine.
And its a heck of a lot easier than standing there for a week with a vegetable peeler and hand cramps :-)
If you hate peeling and love mash, give it a go.
I got it for my Tefal Actifry and it has helped me make chips and roast potatoes that were just lovely.
It is indeed easy to clean and I would have given it 5 stars, but it is a bit fiddly to set up and there is a sliding plastic bar that acts as a safety switch which will slide straight out into the sink the first time you wash it out---because the instructions don't tell you it's there. And when you set it up everything's got to be right: parts the right way round, bits the right way up, and everything in place (including that little plastic bar). But once you've got it going, it's great.
Some here have remarked about it not working after one or two uses, thinking the motor has broken..
Well that is what really brings me to writing this.. my friends one did indeed stop working after a couple of uses, was it a failed motor? as some say here.. Well technically NO! in the case of my friends one..
there is a safety switch which stops the motor from running without the lid on.. and that is the fail point not the motor, there is a very small switch in the inside base which the bowl part sits on which is operated by a thin bar that runs up the inside of the bowl, which in turn the lid pushes on when fully clipped in place which then pushes the switch on!! It is this that is the culprit!! as under cleaning it falls out if you are not careful..
So if you are wondering why yours has stopped working I suggest you check to see if the channel on left side of bowl is empty ie: you can see straight down it if this is so! you have lost the switching bar!! A long thin piece of plastic... so if you ever see something like it in the sink after cleaning DON'T throw it away, not knowing what it is,!! check your potato peeler.!!!
Apart from this slight problem/defect these things work pretty well for the low price you are paying..
SO! don't throw away or send back as faulty till you check this out and have a good look round your kitchen for the bit, it just clips back in from the top of the bowl section just push back into the slot in the bowl and your peeler will work again!!
Hope this info helps some of you out..
I have had a peeler before, I cant remember the make, but this one is better.
The only thing I don't like, there is a small removable plastic thing that slides into the base, that stops the machine spinning when the lid is removed, I have nearly thrown this out a couple of times.

Works well in general. There is a plastic connecting bar which is actuated by the lid without which the unit will not operate. Read morePublished 2 months ago by P T Siddall
