Product Description

User instruction: 1. Make sure the transmitter and the receiver are at the SAME control channel. On the transmitter, the blue DIP switch of channel setting is on bottom side; on the receiver, the channel setting switch is inside the battery compartment. By channel setting, you can group the flash equipment into channel 1, 2, 3 or 4, and then switch the transmitter into channel 1, 2, 3 or 4 to control the different lighting group. 2. Insert the X Sync Cord into the PC terminal of the receiver, insert the 1/4" (6mm) or 1/8" (3mm) phone jack plug into the jack of your flash equipment, then switch on the receiver. 3. Press the TEST button of the transmitter to confirm operation of the flash equipment in the chosen configuration before taking photography. 4. Connect the transmitter with your light meter by the X Sync Cord. Press the metering button of the light meter to meter light. Please make sure the shutter speed is not more than the max Sync speed of your camera. Adjust the light output of the flash equipment if needed, then meter light again. Disconnect the transmitter with the light meter. 5. Mount the transmitter on the camera hot shoe. If your camera does not have a hot shoe but have a PC terminal, then connect the transmitter with the camera by the X Sync Cord. Feel annoying by connect and disconnect the transmitter with the light meter or the camera? We strongly recommend you buy an additional transmitter. Thus you can have one transmitter for the light meter and on for the camera! 6. Set the camera into M mode, and then set the desired shutter speed and metered aperture value. Now you can trigger the flash equipment by press the shuttle release button of the camera to take pictures. Package Includes: 1x Transmitter 2 x Receiver 2 x Receiver batteries In the list, the flashgun is not included

I have now purchased 2 sets of these units. They took a while to get get up and running but they work. I have one to use for my light meter attached with a sync lead so it fires my Elinchrom Ranger kit and the other unit and receivers are used for my Nikon speedlights. Initially the speedlights attached to the top of the hotshoe on the receivers. But.... they are not a secure fit and a few times despite "locking" the speedlight to the receiver shoe attachment they still slip out and when you are moving stands around quickly it doesn't inspire confidence in the security of these potentially falling off. So I have ordered 4 sets of short sync leads to couple the receivers to the speedlights meaning the lights can be attached securely to the stands and their various attachments and the receivers can be lightly Velcro-d to the side of the lights. It is a shame they dont put a male to male pc sync lead in with the receivers to give you the option of connecting differently than the hotshoe they assume everybody wants to use. The only lead you get in the kit is for the transmitter unit which has a jack to pc sync on the other end.
The performance is fairly consistent, although I have noticed the first frame fired from starting the shoot may not fire but the 2nd onwards is regular. While the expensive Pocket Wizards are obviously going to be 100% guaranteed I'm prepared to risk losing that first frame - (I'm likely to shoot several variations anyway) because at this price you get what you pay for and these units are generally pretty good and despite the attaching issues there are at least cost effective work-a-rounds for the keen budget minded strobist.

These work for me about 98% of the time, and considering how much cheaper they are compared to pocket wizards it's a no-brainer unless you absolutely NEED 100% reliability.
