Format: Hardcover
I'm glad I came across this book when I was young because it helped me distinguish between quality and dross in the welter of other books about practical art. With a mixture of direct instruction and samples of his own and others work from various eras with discussion on the approach used Geoffrey Fletcher will encourage you to produce really worthwhile and satisfying sketches. This book also introduced me to the work of John Ruskin (its no accident that the title is drawn from Ruskin's "Elements of Drawing") and also to the drawings of early cartoonists like Phil May and its worth having for those two reasons alone !
