HASH(0x91544e34) out of 5 stars Permanent Companion 27 May 2008
By Anthony Green - Published on
Format: Paperback
I used this book during an undergraduate research project in the UK in 1971 on gas discharge from a resonance tube and found it provided the heart and soul of the topic. While slightly challenging for a senior undergraduate student it inspires motivation to persevere with the theoretical foundations and analytical techniques leading to full enrichment in understanding the topic. Even though my graduate degrees focussed on space robotic dynamics and control I still fervently revere Liepman and Roshko's book as a lifetime refernce companion on gas dynamics.

HASH(0x91544e88) out of 5 stars Good Graduate Text 12 May 2007
By A. Freeman - Published on
Format: Paperback
This book is really good. However, I don't recommend it for an undergraduate level student. Equations are sometimes proven by saying, "after some manipulation." As a reference or a graduate text however, this book is very nice to have around. It is small and the chapters are well labeled.

HASH(0x91756a74) out of 5 stars Good concise reference textbook 12 Jan. 2013
By Pang Zi Yang - Published on

My professor recommends this book for its conciseness and depth. Due to the size of the book, it cannot cover all the details, but I think it covers all the theory well. This is the first book I pull to check some equations/theory for compressible flow

The downside is that there are no example problems, this is purely a reference text (not a learning textbook).

HASH(0x910f7b4c) out of 5 stars Fantastic overview of gas dynamics 20 Nov. 2015
By Amazon Customer - Published on

Fantastic overview of gas dynamics. Don't spend the money on a new text book. This one is complete with schlieren photography of experiments. It has been great for teaching and great for a reliable technical reference.
