This is a great book - got it for my 15 year old who loves it. Struggled to get all the parts (the author can provide them from the US) but after much searching around I found Mechatronics-onlineshop provided a kit for the whole thing and managed to get it to me within two days before Christmas. Unfortunately this was only after I'd got all the parts for the first chapter from Maplin - at considerably more cost than the Mechatronics kit for the whole book!

Be warned also there are some proprietary PCB (printed circuit board) "bits" that other users on internet forums have complained about only being able to get from the author - again a workaround is available from Mechatronics.

So, an excellent starter book (my son is now lashing some of the projects up to a Rasperry Pi) which is very informative but really should be bundled with the parts, otherwise what's the point?!

As a second level electronics hobbyist I find this book and its contents well written without going into so much detail that the aspirant electronics enthusiast loses hope of ever understanding it all. IE, just enough is provided to keep your interest and get you going with small projects. Well worth the total expense of purchasing a good used edition and adding postage to my address in South Africa. No one should be put off when first opening the book. Keep at it, you will profit from its secret gems.
