Wait. Wait for more bug patches & wait for some more improvements to the features already in-game. As it stands now you will probably get your money's worth from it, because it's an ok 6/10 game, but the bugs, crashes and graphical glitches will test you.

Hmmm. As recent reviewers have pointed out, the most recent patch has addressed some of the well documented issues with the game, facial animation being one of the prime contenders. In all fairness it wasn't quite as broken as some would suggest, but one of the problems with the game is that the sheer number of design and scripting flaws do take a lot away from what promised to be an exciting new direction in the MA franchise. I've completed about 2/3 of the game and while there are plenty of petty frustrations there is still enough to keep me interested. The general plot is compelling, but badly let down by clunky script writing and uninspired dialogue. There is a fair amount of directionless questing and the mechanic for unlocking ancient remnant tech is joke - sudoku, seriously? Just how advanced were these jokers? On a more positive note there's plenty of familiar MA motifs, such as the option to develop relationships with shipmates, but again the dialogue is very poor and I'm struggling to care about any of the main characters. Mass Effect 2 was, in my view, the best of the bunch by a long, long way, and while Andromeda has its appeal, it feels rushed and compromised, whereas the developers have not learned as much as they might have from the shortcomings of MA3. Not a bad game, but not the finished article. Very repetitious in the main, and you would have thought by now that developers would avoid generic, game-stretching go-fetch missions like the plague, but no. Fans of the franchise will find enough here to justify the purchase, but you'll need to manage your expectations.

I`m a huge fan of Mass Effect 1, 2 and yes, even 3, so imagine my excitement at a new Mass Effect set in a new Universe. Yay!
Completing the game 60 odd hours later, I`m writing this review. I just don`t know how Bioware got so much wrong.

Okay, let`s start off with the good points.

Graphically, the open worlds look gorgeous running on the Frostbite engine. From the hot sands of Eos to the frozen wastes of Voeld, you initially want to keep exploring to find what`s over that next sand dune or frozen hilltop. The NPC`s are pretty detailed, from the distinct human Initiative troops to the Angaran rebels. Ryder looks pretty cool in N7 armour - yes you can craft the beloved N7 set that we saw in previous Mass Effect games - nice nod from Bioware there. Graphically it`s a good step up with the Frostbite engine.

Soundwise, overall pretty good with the ambient planet sounds, creepy metallic Remnant signature noises and chatter from NPC`s in settlements and onboard the Tempest - your sleek ship. Some of your crew chatter is pretty funny and better than some of the dialogue cut scenes. Points off for the odd audio glitch though such as the Nomad engine sounds going quiet.I believe this is being patched soon though.
Music is fairly average but not as good as previous ME creations.

Combat. Improved for the most part and pretty fun. I used mostly charge, singularity and nova to be a biotic Vanguard beast.
Jumping and hovering is a welcome addition and enemy AI is fairly intelligent enough to flank you at times.
A definite improvement there then.

Now for the bad, and unfortunately there`s a fair amount.

So the gameplay is pretty good , combat is enjoyable and graphics are pretty good.
BUT, this game has way too much dialogue to even keep track of the story. Once you've heard the hundreds, if not thousands of different character names the alzheimers then kicks in. Why make a game with so much dialogue and only make the graphics for the actual gameplay decent? It is no myth that the characters have goofy and disturbing facial features during the dialogue and cut scenes (sort of like the masks from the first purge movie). I honestly played this for six hours and just couldn't deal with it anymore. Like I said the gameplay is okay , but with all the boring stuff it just kills the whole story. Once I decided to stop playing I went and bought horizon zero dawn, this made me realise how bad and boring the game was . I played the first mass effect when it was first released and loved it , andromeda on the other hand has just put me off mass effect games completely and I will not be buying another one unless it has good ratings after release.

Mass Effect Andromeda
I’ve played this game 3 times now and have clocked in around 240 hours, so I think I’m in a pretty good position to write a review. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more ambivalent about a game and the following is as brief and to-the-point as I can make it.

The Good
• The story – probably one of the best and well-thought out storylines BioWare have ever come up with. If you take the time to read all text logs and do some investigating there is some great sci-fi in this game and it succeeds in painting the broad strokes on a solid canvas for a great new story in Andromeda. Equally impressive is the subtlety of some of the game’s themes which never try and beat the player over the head with statements on real world events. A core theme of this story is colonialism and the sudden influx of an alien people into an already occupied land, once in the past by the conquering kett, and more recently by the Milky Way explorers. Not once do the developers use this as an excuse for a real-world history lesson and the game is all the better for allowing players to draw their own conclusions.
• Characters – your squad may be smaller than previous Mass Effect games, but they’re quality over quantity. There are no weak links among them and each has their own story for coming to Andromeda. Ambient party banter is great and the voice acting is top notch. The standout character for me is Drack, who is nothing short of a one-man army. I’ve done 2 playthroughs on insanity and the guy hasn’t gone down once, despite pressing the enemy in close quarters with his berserker-style combat.
• The Kett – the primary antagonists of the game and a new and interesting force to be reckoned with.
