Volume 2 has most of the content I was hoping for with a deeper explanation of many of the hard core areas of electrical engineering as found in a second year craft study college course. Some of the chapters cover; inductive and capacitive reactance, transformer theory, power and alternating current theory, rectification theory, electric generator theory and dc and ac motors. The theory has single phase and three phase explanations where applicable and there are plenty of phasor diagrams, photographs and illustrations to help annotate and make things clearer. This book (like volume 1) is very approachable and informative. There is even a latter section on lighting which presents some illuminance calculations and describes a few of the popular lamps and discharge lighting circuits used whilst offering some reasons for selection. A usefull table of names and abbreviations is included too for the selection of lamps provided and states the; power, life hours, output luminance and efficacy details. A number of exercizes and answers are included as well covering the various chapters and a list of symbols and tables is included to help to clarify the electrical mathematics making it quite usefull for the relevant student. This review covers the third edition of the book, the book has been reprinted and updated over the years since 1974.

Has replaced the JTL book "Electrical Installations NVQ and Technical Certificate Book 1: NVQ and Technical Certificate" as the course text book at my local college. You can't say fairer than that.

I can recommend this book to those who are new in this industry, however I expected more in depth knowledge from book written by experienced teacher. The main disadvantage of this book are poor and outdated pictures but you can get only what you paid for. In my opinion this book needs definitely new edition.
