I could write a lengthy discourse on the impression this game has left on my life, but I shall assume the reader is already reasonably familiar with the Elder Scrolls series and focus instead on the improvements made over the original release.Depth of field effects are prominent and pleasing to the eye.The overall resolution and complexity of the in-game graphics have been overhauled and improved massively - it is almost as through the game was made 'originally' for the PS4.The colour depth is far greater, with many objects, surfaces and magical effects much more vibrant than in the original. The draw distance (the distance from the player character at which objects will 'appear') is enormously greater, taking advantage no doubt of the significantly more powerful processing of the console. Field are grassy at any distance, tree and terrain features appear on distant mountainsides, and far-off buildings are visible from the wilderness areas in greater detail than the boxes previously shown.Characters are slightly more detailed and refined, with better facial resolution and more realistic features. Particularly DLC characters, such as Serana. The ambient lighting and atmospheric specular effects in the towns, dungeons, caves and castles are much more pronounced, especially in dimly lit areas. Solitude in the evening for example is astonishing.Even if you owned this game on a previous console, it is worth the upgrade for the graphical improvements alone, and even more so if you have never played the DLC (like I hadn't).Besides all that, you have access to Mods (selected by Bethesda) which can alter the game to your taste - be aware, however, that once any Mod is activated for a particular save file, Trophies will lock for that file.I have sunk thousands of hours into Skyrim, and will continue to, thanks to this release. Incredible.
