Here is a classic album by some of Britains tastiest players who have somehow been overlooked by the general public, Or /And the powers that be in the record industry. For those of you in the dark about the practices of aforementioned Company policy on who does and who dosn't make the grade in the music business, you'll be best off remaining in the dark.I digress, and apologise for my rambling, which when you get to my age is not an option. STRETCH.........What a band! these guys could blow anybody off the stage with their sheer dynamic, slick and rootsy Folk/Blues and Rock n' Roll. A truly international Band, Irish Drummer, Japanese Guitarist, Spanish Bassist, And the two principle members being Londoners. Formed from the remnants of the defunct 'Bogus Fleetwood Mac' The hit single from 'Elastique' was a poke at Mick Fleetwood for letting the boys down by not turning up for the pre - arranged American Tour of 74. Instead, running off to Africa after finding out his old lady had been cheating on him with the Guitarist in the previous incantation of the 'Mac' 'Why did you do it ' Was a rhetorical lyric insomuch as ever getting an answer from Fleetwood was highly unlikely. Now that you know the History of that song, remember you heard it here first. Elmer Gantry (vox) is a true original of the British Blues /folk scene and why on earth he aint a huge star on the international circuit I for one will never fathom. Formally with Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera who had a smash hit in the late sixties with the Monster single 'Flames' But sadly did not follow it up due to management wrangles, band arguments and general apathy which so often sets in when bands are left to their own devices!Read more ›
