..it was the reviews of this album here on amazon that made me buy it.i thought, wow, they really are making this out to be something special, i'll have to give it a go....
i wont bore you but let me just tell you a little story.
i ordered this from amazon.com (along with Porcupine trees 'deadwing' album) about 10 weeks ago, 2 weeks before heading off to thailand. it arrived belive it or not the morning before i left so i had to quickly get it onto minidisc before leaving. i listened to it for a couple of days when travelling, chilling in bangkok etc. until on day 3 of my travels, my minidisc player broke!!! for the last 8 weeks, this album has constantly been on my mind, i only just got slightly familiar with it, yet it made such an impression. As soon as i got back i played it, and i havent stopped playing it for the last 5 days..... (story over)
This album is amazing. Never have i heard a band that can in one song go from such beautiful guitar work and soft vocals to such powerful and meaningful deep chorus's. Track 5 is the best example of this.
Lyrically i was blown away, the first track Same ol' road, i'll have to quote these as its just stunning use of words...
"all we need is a modest house in a modest neighbourhood,
in a modest town where honest people dwell,
making the cleanest energy for greenest plants to grow,
the richest soil that is drenched with the freshest rain..".
i dont know, for me thats special, maybe not everyone but anything positive and fresh like that really uplifts me.
I dont really know track names off this album as you have to just play it through as one epic track, it is afterall a concept album (about sleep paralysis).
i could go on, favourite tracks are 2, 5 & 6 i think but the whole album is amazing.

This album is absolutely incredible, the diverse range of music covered in sixteen tracks is staggering. When I first heard this album I wasn't entirely convinced, I felt that something was missing, but after coming back to it I realise that this is perfection. Whether you listen to the album intently or let it just wash over you, you will realise how beautiful music can be. The one purpose in your life is to buy this masterpeice, its not like anything else and it should be merited on its uniqueness alone. My favourite album, the only thing that can possibly top this is the release of their new album. Buy it now or miss out!

The Cd from start to finish astounds me, it is a truely genuine piece of art, that has seen a lot of thought, effort and time. There are subtleties galore, that are amazing, barely noticable, but still adding an element that elevates this Cd to the top of the pile. Every track leads you into the next, leaving you wanting for more. This album is something that needs to be listened to again and again to understand everything thats there. It is an aural bombardment of astounding music that will leave you completly content with the Cd. There is nothing that needs changing, a true masterpiece.

I cant get over this band, I discovered them completely by accident while looking for CD's by bands 'Kaura' & 'Cire' the next day I saw this CD in my local record store and bought it on a whim. When I got it home I was in a rush to go out but on the first listen I knew it was something special, when I came back to it I was overjoyed, the sheer scope of this is stunning, as other reviews have said it's just breathtaking. Its simply just has some of the best arrangements and finely written not to mention performed material that I've ever heard, but they go so much father and cause reminiscences of Dead Can Dance on one track, the instrumentation is thought out very carefully, plus Gavin Hayes has one of the finest and unique voices I have ever heard.

This is an essential CD for anyone who claims to love Rock, Alternative, Metal or Emo.

It's just spectacular, a beautiful concept exceptionally executed. A sweet production and evocative packaging and design just set it all off.

You need this, its just a perfect record.

When the release date for El Cielo was anounced i was counting down the days until it arrived. It exceeded all my expectations. The first Dredg album is very hard to beat and El Cielo has.
This is a cd that you cannot track pick, too appreciate it you must listen to it all at once and it is breath-taking to hear. Each song is unique and links itself into the story of the album. The CD portrays sleep paralysis in an amzing way, it describes dreams of people and their struggles.
The booklet that accompanies the cd needs to be read to get the full effect of the music, it has excerts from diaries of people and is beautifully presented in a package that took care too design.
This cd is possibly one of the best ever and gives true meaning of music, its the best cd i ever bought and everyone should hear it. Dino's voice is perfect for the music and will snatch you into the dreamworld of Dredg. Buy this and you will not regret it.

Everytime i listen to this album, something hits me. The music is so beautiful, origional, relaxing, moving. I find words do not give this album justice. It is simply amazing. As someone said before, Dredg will never be huge, its a shame because they are one of the best bands to come out in a long time. Catch them live if you can because it is truly an experience you won't forget. This band is not for everyone, but if you want to be deeply touched and moved by a piece of music then this is it. Open you hearts, minds and ears and listen to this album.
