Thought the first was perfection. Studid it with my personal awkwardness. Later this second edition put to rest all those obstacles and it was an awakening that embodied all the more extensive texts of Lamrim and Lojong, such as Joyful Path of Good Fortune and Meaningful to Behold. This is a super one for POPULAR modern buddhism with bang up to date modern phrases and it uses a very sort of vernacular but best of English writing style that translates briliantly well into easily understood spoken English. This second edition heads up the latest Kadampa revolution after the authors publishing Modern Buddhism, and followed hot on its heals by the New Heart of Wisdom, which has its oral commentary by Geshe Kelsang in te fall of 2013 International Festival Portugal. Maybe see you there!

I'm always on the lookout for good new spiritual books. I like the way this guy puts things and have read other books of his. I will probably re-read this. His books have some genuinely helpful points and are also not wishy-washy like some modern spiritual books.

This is an amazing book. It explains simply and clearly the very important Tibetal Budhhist text called Eight Verses of Training the Mind by the eleventh century Buddhist Master Geshe Langri Tangpa. This book turns all our normal assumptions about how to achieve peace and happiness on their heads, and explains in easy to understand practical steps that anyone can all follow, to progress from wherever we are at present all the way to the happiness of enlightenment. I would recommend this book to anyone trying to understand ourselves and the world around us.

This book is about mind - how to protect our own mind from life's daily problems, how to find the natural contentment we all have, but so rarely find. It also goes very deeply & succinctly into some profound buddhist teachings, meditation & practices, including emptiness. I have read it quite a few times over the years and each reading just shines a bit more light onto life, death, the meaning of the universe and all that!
