The Melodic are a 5 piece Indie/Folk band from Brixton UK and "Effra Parade" is their first full length release, in which they bring their own unique take on the genre.
Excellent harmonies and multi cultural instrumentation are the hallmark of this album and some fine witty, but nevertheless still poetic songwriting.

HASH(0x9aabb624) out of 5 stars A very young steeleye Span or Pentangle 22 Mar. 2014
By o dubhthaigh - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Having just caught them in Philadelphia, I can say, first hand that as really good as the record is, live they bring it all to the stage. Faced with the unenviable position of having to open for Tinariwen, they left nothing in the dressing room. The musicianship was ace, the harmonies tight, the spirit incredibly infectious. This CD is superb. This is a band that comes at the music from a uniquely British perspective: the village dance, the Morris beat, that unique quality in the voice that tells you this is from England are here in spades. Images of Al Stewart, Gay Woods, Simon Nicol all bounce around in my imagination as I listen to them, and watch them live. DO NOT pass on an opportunity to see them, and pick this disc up. It has that rare quality of being complete. THe record goes full circle thematically, says what it has to say and sparkles with creativity.

HASH(0x9aabb684) out of 5 stars sweet, playful indie folk/pop 4 Dec. 2013
By Charlie Quaker - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
British debut of sweet, playful indie folk/pop with gorgeous vocal harmonies, banjo, horns,
melodica, charango, etc. The vision is pure and the songs are relaxing, sliding into the armchair
of your soul like long-lost friends from the old country. Shades of Fairport Convention, Fleet
Foxes, The Incredible String Band
HASH(0x9aabe558) out of 5 stars An unexpected gift! 7 April 2014
By George Rabasa - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I heard them opening for Tinariwen and was blown away by their energy and musicianship, a kind of English roots transformed into a continental romp via the Andes with the use of the charango as a lead instrument. Their first cd appears to have been fully born into a homemade masterpiece. Catch them if you can.
