Forde brings much-needed credibility to a subject that has been left to crass low-budget television for far too long. The research is excellent, the writing is gripping, and the author never has to stretch his subject matter to prove a point. The chapter on Hampton Court Palace is particularly good, the writer shows how the unexplained remains unexplained without tricksiness or pantomime camp. Highly recommended.

Just finished this book, living in Scotland I am well aware of it's violent past and the ghost stories that make up our history such as the Edinburgh and Glamis Castle stories. I didn't know about all the legends re the London Underground or the pirates in Cornwall.

All the above makes an interesting read which gives food for thought, personally I always approach a subject such as this with an open mind. This book certainly helps feed the imagination and demonstrates the author has clearly done some research into this. I'll look forward to reading further books by him :)

Many thanks.

Interesting compilation of ghost sightings and paranormal activity. The author has added possible scientific solutions to each scenario and his own tuppence worth, which makes it more balanced, as the reader isn't asked to form an opinion either way, just read the story and make ther own assumptions.
Am Fear Liath Mhor: The Terrifying Grey Man of the Cairngorms
I am suprised I have never heard of this apparent Sasquatch like scottish being, I would like to say I am going to take up mountaineering to see, but that just isn't going to happen.
The MacKenzie Poltergeist
Now these crypts, tombs and vaults sound as if there is a whole load of negative energy and perhaps worth a sightseeing tour.
The Undead of the Underground
I never realised how macabre it must have been to tunnel out the Underground and the description of how some of the lines couldn't even be dug through because of the dense amount of human remains is just spooky.
All in all a really good read, with a lot a facts and stories I hadn't heard about before. Def. something for the more ghost hunter inclined.

Admittedly I do not usually read this sort of book. In fact, this is probably the first collection of ghost stories I've read since I started growing hair on my face. However, when the opportunity arose for me to gain a copy without charge, I thought I may as well take advantage of the offer. I read the book from front to back and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The stories are very well written and as far as I can tell, a good representation of the facts which they're based on. I found every one of the stories to be as curious and gripping as the next. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would have gladly paid for it. Props to the author, I await your next one.

I'm very interested in the stories of ghosts, hauntings and monsters in Britain, so I found this very interesting.
Quite a few of the subjects I'd never heard of before though I've read a lot of books on the matter, so it was great to read something new.
I'd highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in the subject!
