The third of the Reader's Digest Association's series: Looking Back At Britain that I have read. Each book covers various aspects of life in Britain throughout a particular decade. What makes this series so good is that the narrative is amply illustrated with photographs. There is a saying that a picture paints a thousand words and nowhere is that saying more appropriate than when applied to this book's photographs. The more one looks at the photographs the more one sees and learns about the events and people depicted.

These books do not provide an in-depth or highly intellectual analysis of events, but in my view, hit absolutely the right note. Various subjects and events are swept through and along the way one is able to learn much about the politics, royal events, sociology, economics and technological advances of the 1900s.

The main personalities involved in the key events are highlighted.

In short this book and its cohorts provide highly interesting and informative historical tasters of the decades that they cover. For the enquiring mind they give the reader many interesting threads of interest to follow in subsequent reading and discovery. They are ideal for the young reader as well as adult readers.

I therefore thoroughly recommend this book and the series.
