Top customer reviews
In use, the user interface is ok, and does at least support non-IE browsers for most functions (earlier Edimax products only worked properly in IE).
The unit supplied had some dis-colouration on the left hand side of the image which was not possible to do anything about. The output image is quite large when a snapshot is taken (250Kb as opposed to 30Kb for a 640x480 image).
There are a few things missing (even in the 1.7 firmware) which are in earlier Edimax webcams. One important function missing is the ability to upload a snapshot after a fixed period (e.g. five minutes).
Other things in earlier devices but missing here, are that it is not possible to assign the snapshot image filename nor change the filename used if using the motion sensing upload capability.
Image quality is fine, but as this is 1280x960 you should expect it to be ok. If the requirment is for a general IP cam to log on/off just to check what it can see, this unit is very useable at the price.
In summary, at under fifty pounds at the time of writing, this is not too bad, but there's work to do on the firmware.
