Also, the unwired remote’s volume features two ‘Minus’ buttons and two ‘Plus’ buttons and there’s no explanation why they’re ‘doubled-up’.
Regardless of the majority of User reviews, I’m a musician and ‘Experienced and Mature’ audiophile with a preference for Rock music and find the mid-range frequencies slightly ‘Lost’, sandwiched as they are between the extremely powerful and low ranging bass capability and very ‘Bright’ tonally accurate high frequency sound signature. I have a wooden floor in my ‘Listening Room’ and find the following settings to be most ‘Accurate’ for my hearing. Minus 1 bass and treble setting for the satellites and the same for the Sub-Woofer. 0 to 50 volume increments are User selectable plus an additional so-called 6 level “Volume Booster” which seems both illogical and superfluous to me and would be better incorporated into the readily available power output without recourse to User selection and extra Button-Pressing.
Some care is required in both placement and handling of the very heavy sub-woofer cabinet: the 2 relatively delicate side diaphragms, (unlike the front driver), have no protective grill: kids/pets/upright vacuum cleaners etc a potential problem.
Cabinets are reassuringly heavy, manufactured well and aesthetically pleasing. Potential Buyers should be aware of the considerable weight and actual external dimensions of the sub-woofer enclosure including its rear mounted heat sink.
Sound quality is remarkably outstanding and few audiophiles will be anything other than content with their purchase at the asking price.
When it arrived I thought, wow ok the sub is a lot lot bigger than I expected and it weighs and a lot.
Then I hooked everything up, plugged it into my Audigy 2 and threw a high quality FLAC track on, wow! Just wow! 100 times better than the logitech 7.1 system I had, can only be compared as going from a 17" monitor to a 40" 4K monitor!
Top end is clear, mid range is spot on and the bass is awesome. I spend most of my time with it at volumes 20 to 28 (it goes up to 50!).
At 50 things start to fly off my shelves! Plan ahead if your going for volume 50 or you may break something falling off a shelf / table. At anything over 35+ the neighbors start to contemplate moving out. You would think the thing would be stressing at 50 but the sound is as clear as it is at 20, I get the feeling they could go louder if the option was given.
It's a beast of a 2.1 system, for both sound quality and volume, I did not expect the downgrade to 2.1 from 7.1 to be such an upgrade.
I would recommend getting an external sound card / dac for use with them, I now use the Tascam 322 instead of any internal sound card or motherboard sound.
Highly recommended, just be careful - the volume has to be set by someone with a little respect for the neighbors.
Also the build quality is superb, unlike the many poor quality items I've received from logitech over several years of buying there products.
I understand you will have been shopping around on the internet looking for quality speakers that provide in depth sound. I looked at other similar models of 2.1 and found from reviews all over the internet that this was the best in it's category. £260... oh wait £265 now (Just shows that Amazon know they sell because of their excellent reputation) is worth it. Simple as!
At first I was hesitant to spend such an amount but my motto is "Buy cheap, buy twice".
These speakers will last for as long as your expecting,... years. The options for changing balance, treble, bass, and sub woofer to speaker ratio are all available to change by a slim hand sized remote. Attached to the sub by wire is the additional LCD display remote which can be used to alter the same options. This is a quality set up as you can use the wireless remote to change settings via the attached one. The style is second to non with black shiny speaker casing and a neat veneered MDF sub with a grill that looks like it was modelled/shaped similar to wave parabola. I put mine at volume 30 the other day (out of 50 plus boost +) and the apartment block I was in vibrated to two floors above. Need I say more about power??
One last thing to bear in mind if you choose these luxury beat treats... The delivered box is 34kg so be CAREFUL. I did my back in slightly lifting. City link - I ordered 7pm Thursday night arrived 10am Saturday morning Birmingham to Sheffield - Yeah Buddddyyyyy!!!!!
