Six Years Gone rocked my little world with the way it ended... so I tried patiently waiting, which soon turned into stalking the author for Edges of Gone.

Owen, Sloane, Lachlan, & Noah are all trying to come to terms with the devastating events that rocked their world. Each of them are broken, lost, and trying to get on with their lives... which sometimes is easier said than done.

Owen feels the most guilt that he couldn't protect his little sister and ultimately checks out for a bit, finding comfort at the bottom of a bottle. As a consequence, his marriage to Sloane begins to suffer as they become strangers to each other.

Sloane doesn't know how to get through to Owen, and as hard as it is, she tries to get on with her daily life. When she opens Revamped again, she hires a new assistant, Immy, who brings her own unique and bubbly personality to the shop.

Sloane & Owen will have to fight with everything they have to save their marriage. They will have to rediscover what they loved about each other in the first place. Their story isn't always easy to read, as you feel the couple's heartbreak and loss throughout the pages. But this will be one couple that you will cheer on and shout at through your kindle to get their HEA.

I can't wait to see which other secondary characters get their own books. I'm really hoping Immy does, as I really loved her bubbly personality and witty sarcasm.

As this is the second book in the series and whilst it is not absolutely critical I would ask that you consider reading Six Years Gone, the first in the series before you start this one, I think that you will garner so much more for having spent some time immersed in this author work.
This is the story of Sloane and Owen and much like the first story, it is far from easy. Their wedding day was ruined and if they don’t want the rest of their lives to follow suit they have to get their heads around their situation and work out how to move on.
But is that even possible?
They have a lot to deal with, but as much as the obstacles that are place before them are there to be overcome it was the internal battles that seemed to weigh heavier on them and their relationship.
Could they keep their fledging marriage afloat?
I had my fingers crossed for the pair of them but having read the author first work, I knew that she wasn’t going to make it easy on either them or I.
Emotionally I felt washed out by the time I had finished the read, it was draining. The darkness was what made me sad, not sad enough not to read to the end obviously but just sad a for a situation that saw Sloane and Owen on a path that I would much rather they had been able to escape.
BUT…just you wait until you get a load of that Epilogue!!!

Edges of Gone is the second novel in the Gone series. It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading Six Years Gone first so you get the full experience. It's a emotional rollercoaster with this small family. If you didn't read Six Years Gone then I don't want to spoil anything so I will make this short. The synopsis is amazing. Just sayin'.

Owen and Sloane were made for each other. They met through Sawyer which is Owen's sister and Sloane's best friend. After five years of being together, they finally had their HEA and got married in a romantic setting. It was the perfect day until it turned into their nightmare. Instead of going on their honeymoon, they were in misery. And the months that pass are no different. Their once happy relationship is full of distance, awkwardness, hurt, and secrets. Can they mend their new marriage and find happiness once again before it's too late?

I liked Six Years Gone but for some reason I felt more for Edges of Gone. They are both emotional and wonderful stories. Their is definitely a different feel because of the storylines. Maybe I just felt more attached this time around. I felt their pain and wanted them to be happy like they once were. Speaking of characters. Sloane is such a strong force. She shows weakness but you see her strength through it. Owen. It's a protective man that feels so much. I loved this little family that also includes a few more. I am not sure what is next in the series but I am looking forward to it.

Overall...it's full of emotions. It's not just about Owen and Sloane but about family, loss, love, forgiveness, and fate.

Quotes:

It did rain that afternoon, except drops of water didn’t fall from the sky, but rather the ashes of what used to be my life.

Edges of Gone deserves a standing ovation. In this heartbreakingly beautiful work of art you will discover to truly break free of despair and grief you have to rise above your transgressions and take back what is rightfully yours. Jessica Gouin will take you into a world that will bring out emotions that will resonate deep into your soul. You will yearn for the happy moments and endure the choas and inner turmoil watching the person you love reach rock bottom. But with great family and friendships you will have the anchor to set you free of your burden and free fall. It takes a great tragedy to break you but it takes a strong soul to set you free and embrace the heartbreak. In this exceptional story Ms Gouin words words will whisper to your heart and soul. The scenes will replay like mini snapshots of a movie. Edges of Gone will leave imprints on your heart forever. Simply brilliant five stars guaranteed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read 27 April 2017

In good times, and in bad.
In sickness, and in health.
Until death do them part...

Owen and Sloane never foresaw their vows being put to the ultimate test mere hours after declaring those sacred words.

Their lives were shredded to pieces on the night of their wedding and the aftermath that followed the tragedy set those pieces ablaze. Promises of better or worse began to blur as they attempted to return to daily routines.

With a burnt and bloodstained wedding dress hidden in the basement, will Sloane be strong enough to mend the broken pieces inside of her husband?
With guilt and despair pulling Owen further into the dark corners of his mind, will he battle his demons, or surrender to them?

Sometimes when love is pulled apart, it might not fit back together as easily as it once did. Every marriage takes faith and sacrifice, but how far will these two go to save what they once had?

It seems the further these newlyweds drift from one another the harder it becomes to focus on the happy life they once envisioned.

Wow! Talk about an emotional roller coaster. Owen and Sloane's story was far from easy. It was beautifully written and so heartfelt. There's not enough words to describe how awesome this story was. Great Read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing story!!! 27 April 2017

If you want a tearjerker. This is your book.
This book is wonderful, beautiful, and amazing.

Edges of Gone picks up where Six Years Gone left off (If you have not read Six Years Gone, you need to because it is wonderful and you will understand this book a lot more.) The beginning of this book does do a mini re-cap of Six Years Gone if you have not read it.

Owen and Sloane were supposed to be celebrating the best day of their lives, but it ended up being the worst day of their lives. After a terrible tragedy and horrible injuries, they now have to pick up the pieces and continue living.

Owen is trying to overcome injures he received on his wedding day. He is heartbroken, sad, pissed at the world, and doesn’t know how to move on with his life.

Sloane is trying to do all she can to help Owen with his struggles but he keeps pushing her away. When is enough, enough? When do you give up on trying to help the person you love?

First, let me just say Darn You Jessica. The number of tears I shed during this book was crazy. I will say that when you read this, you will probably be pissed at Owen for a good portion of the book, because I was. However, you have to remember he is grieving and in pain. There are other characters in the book, Imogen and Nash, who add their own stories into the plot. (I loved Imogen.)
There are flashbacks throughout the book that give you a good incite on why Owen is feeling the way he is and why he is going what he is doing.

I absolutely loved this story. It is a very emotional story. I cried sad tears and happy tears (my husband laughed at me because of it.) I think this book is beautifully written and tells a story of heartbreak and suffering but also tells a story about how you can overcome the worse times of your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Stays With You 27 April 2017

Edges of Gone by Jessica Gouin is the second installment in the Gone Series.
Edges of Gone is not a stand-alone. For better understanding I recommend to read Six Years Gone first.
This is Sloane and Owen's book.
Edges of Gone picks up where Six Years Gone ends up. They had never dreamt of the tragedy the strikes at their wedding day and the aftermath that shredded all to pieces. There is a drift that slowly creeps between the couple. Can thy make their marriage work, or is Sawyer's dead the fuel to destroy everything.
I must admit I cried nearly the whole book. But I couldn't put it down. I couldn't not know what happened to the characters. Edges Of Gone gutted me.
This book is gritty, it is raw and it will stay with you. It is a emotional roller coaster, a teary eyed 5 Star Read. Thank you Jessica Gouin!
